Just Lewis

This is a collection of letters written by C. S. Lewis taken from a book of essays, letters, and short stories. It’s not very long and since it is a collection of letters, it’s easy to just take it in short bits at a time. Lewis was a prolific letter writer and these are mostly answers to questions people sent to him. What comes across is an openness and honesty to speak to every question no matter what it was, as well as a characteristic humility that was not afraid to admit when he wasn’t sure of an answer. And, he writes with such clarity and brevity that’s hard to find. The only thing is that I’d like to have had more.

Love The Way CSL Thought

Very good audio book, wish it were much much longer. Only a handful of letters here, but I’ll take what I can get. I own several CSL letter compilation books, which I love, however it’s so hard to find the time to sit and actually read! I wish so much they were all on audio as this handful of letters are! ❤️

Some delightful perspectives on various topics of Christian concern

It is always great to listen to the brilliant thoughts of CS Lewis. And, Ralph Caution does such a wonderful job of presenting Lewis’s words as though it were the man himself speaking. This collection of responses to criticisms of others and of concerns Lewis has with proposals and actions of the church is delivered very humbly, gracefully and incisively.

Applicable to 2021

It is amazing to me that many of the same topics are relevant today’s struggles. I like the references provided.

Concise, lightning insights, read well.

Reading presented with becoming stateliness and well considered pauses that bring out the wow in so many sentences.

Enlightening...

Fascinating and practical reason and logic! C. S. Lewis' remarks are as relevant today as they were 70 years ago - timeless wisdom!

Grace and Charity

Very short sections, but Lewis’ charity and grace are on full display. I wish I could write letters like him, and wonder what he would’ve done with modern social media applications.
