Great story, full of surprises!
Very fun, odd, original, fascinating, and exciting story. Say what you will about Ray Porter and RC Bray (both I love BTW), but Mark Boyett kicks ass. Ever since I started Undying Mercenaries, he became one of my favorite narrators.
Reminded me of some of the LitRPG books out there, but with mix of AI, cool technology, and science fiction battles mixed in. Highly recommended. Can't wait for the next one.

If you like a tongue in cheek superhero world
The world reminds me a lot of the D-list Supervillain and the Forging Hephaestus series in the best ways possible. There is less focus of the "source" of super powers and more of a focus on how the presence of superpowers + resurrection technology impact society.

Enjoyed this, however…
…there was something I missed and upon finishing it realized that I really didn’t feel much attachment to the characters. My mind found it fun to play around in the world of supers, my heart wanted to like them more.
