About this listen

Confronting Nazi evil is the subject of the latest installment in the mega-best-selling Killing series.

As the true horrors of the Third Reich began to be exposed immediately after World War II, the Nazi war criminals who committed genocide went on the run. A few were swiftly caught, including the notorious SS leader Heinrich Himmler. Others, however, evaded capture through a sophisticated Nazi organization designed to hide them. Among those war criminals were Josef Mengele, the “Angel of Death” who performed hideous medical experiments at Auschwitz; Martin Bormann, Hitler’s brutal personal secretary; Klaus Barbie, the cruel "Butcher of Lyon"; and perhaps the most awful Nazi of all: Adolf Eichmann.

Killing the SS is the epic saga of the espionage and daring waged by self-styled "Nazi hunters". This determined and disparate group included a French husband and wife team, an American lawyer who served in the army on D-Day, a German prosecutor who had signed an oath to the Nazi Party, Israeli Mossad agents, and a death camp survivor. Over decades, these men and women scoured the world, tracking down the SS fugitives and bringing them to justice, which often meant death.

Written in the fast-paced style of the Killing series, Killing the SS will educate and stun the listener. The final chapter is truly shocking.

Very Interesting and Detailed

I really enjoyed the narrative and learned a lot. I just wish it had been read by a professional reader and then it would of gotten 5 stars from me! Fortunately, Mr. O'Reilly's reading style is not totally unbearable but occasionally gets grating with the unnatural pauses and ups and downs in his rendition; no where near the smoothness and cadence produced by professional readers. Why must authors read their own works? It very rarely works.

Bad performance

The story was good but the performance by Bill O’Reilly sometimes left you twisting in the wind. His performance was like a newscast...his pitches were a roller coaster and he sometimes struggled with the script. I won’t listen to any more narrations by Mr. O’Reilly.

A more polished narrator would’ve allowed me to provide a higher rating.

Good book needed different narrator

I was really looking forward to this book by Bill O’Reilly, I’ve loved all his books, but this time he needed a different narrator instead of doing it himself. He was just to monotone. Good research and good book though but one to buy and read yourself.

Great book, amazing recount of events

A great tracking of the events that occurred, before, during, and after the war and the way the Nazi members tried to escape capture and the people that helped them...

Good story, but...poor narration

Another remarkable insight into history, but Bill O'Reilly's narration was way below the mark. So many mispronounced names and words that it took my focus away from the story at times. He is a remarkable writer, but should not narrate his own books.

History That We Cannot Care Forget

As with all this author's works the detail with which has gone in this book is flawless! I am a true student of WW2 and this is by far my favorite book on the subject. I know we were not given 3/4 of the information in school that I learned here.
The chilling demonic deeds, actions and mind numbing beliefs of this group of "human beings" will never be understood.
The German people as a whole just wanted to get their country back on it's very from the defeat from WW1,and in their desperate attempt to do so let their minds be taken over by the devil incarnate. From the lies that spawned a period of hell on earth the rise of this core group of men was inevitable.
When you stop thinking for yourself and do nothing this will be the result.
This book should be required reading in high schools.
Some of the best money I have spent is on this book. Could not recommend higher.

Killing the SS... WOW.. you will love this

Great write! Excellent information, about the slaughter of Jews and the hunt for the scum who’s “job” it was to kill them. Intense and suspenseful. Couldn’t stop reading/listening, don’t think you’ll be able to either.

The Wait is Over

I have read several books in O'Reily's Killing series and I highly anticipated the release of this one. Although it was a great, very informational read, it was not the most exciting book in the series. This book takes place after WW2, which I was not expecting, but I am not disappointed.
