In Julius Erving: The Inspiring Story of One of Basketball's Greatest Forwards, you'll learn the inspirational story of one of basketball's legends, Julius Erving. Erving, also known as Dr. J, is widely considered one of the great superstars of professional basketball. Erving began his professional career with the American Basketball Association's Virginia Squires in 1971 before making a name for himself with the New York Nets. He then played for the National Basketball Association's 76ers for 11 consecutive seasons. During his career, he received multiple awards including three scoring titles, three championships and four MVP awards. On top of all that, he was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 1993. He is also one of only three players in NBA history to score at least 30,000 points.
Erving retired in 1987 after playing 16 seasons in the ABA and the NBA combined. His slam dunks and scoring prowess made him one of the most recognizable names in basketball. His impact on basketball is immeasurable. He was one of the first players to truly revolutionize the sport and helped lay the groundwork for what we see today.
