About this listen

The only thing Jean Honeychurch hates more than her boring name (not Jean Marie, or Jeanette, just...Jean) is her all-too-appropriate nickname: Jinx. Misfortune seems to follow her everywhere she goes, which is why she's thrilled to be moving in with her aunt and uncle in New York City. Maybe when she's halfway across the country, Jinx can finally outrun her bad luck. Or at least escape the havoc she's caused back in her small hometown.

But trouble has definitely followed Jinx to New York. And it's causing big problems for her cousin Tory, who is not happy to have the family black sheep around. Beautiful, glamorous Tory is hiding a dangerous secret - one that she's sure Jinx is going to reveal.

Jinx is beginning to realize it isn't just bad luck she's been running from. It's something far more sinister...and the curse Jinx has lived under since the day she was born might just be the only thing that can save her life.

Reliving my childhood

I was so happy and delighted to find this title on audible. Meg Cabot was one of my favorite childhood authors. Listening to this book during my busy schedule on my way home brought back great memories.

predictably fun...

Would you consider the audio edition of Jinx to be better than the print version?

I have not experienced the printed version.

What other book might you compare Jinx to and why?

I compare Jinx to Meg Cabot's other stories. It was more predictable but just as fun as her other books. Jinx compares to a more wholesome version of the film,

Which scene was your favorite?

The first gazebo scene was a fun introduction to the characters. But I am not sure I have one scene that stands out more than all the others.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

No extreme reaction, just fun.

Any additional comments?

I would recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a fun and light-hearted book about an average girl that has a few quirks, the biggest being she might be a witch.

What could Meg Cabot have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Live the teen age issues aside

Good performance. Ok story. Not for preteens

I have liked many of Meg Cabot'a other stories. This is a fine story, but not a great story. I would recommend one of her other books over this one but it is still OK. I think Avalon high and some of her other books are better. I'm an adult and a mom of a 12 year old. I try to pre-read some of the books before she does. This one I was not as fond of and would not allow her to read and she's only just about to turn 13. There were numerous references to drug use and friends with benefits relationships which I thought were inappropriate for preteens or even when she's a teenager. I would not recommend it for preteens at all in light of this content. The person who read the Audible I thought did a good job and was enjoyable to listen to. But again overall only found the story to be so so.

Slow start that never picked up.

I didn’t like anything about the audible book. Try to pull the reader into the pod cast.
