About this listen

Returning to Madison hurts. I thought I'd left my past behind, but the past goes on living. I carry it inside of me, it's a piece of me. People have marked me in indelible ways, and I drag the shreds of my soul behind me, trying to put my pieces back together. I'm not the Amber I used to be. I fly under the radar, try to be invisible.

It doesn't always work. Drawing attention scares me. It always spells trouble. Returning to my hometown is a last-ditch effort to lay my demons to rest and start anew, for good this time.

Meeting Jesse Lee wasn't in the plan. Yet here he is with his heart-stopping, sexy grin, handsome like a god, shining bright. He's full of life, full of heat, packing the energy of a thousand suns in his gaze and muscular body. Jesse burns, and the pain of being near him is sweet.

But he's foiling my plans. It's hard to remain a ghost when he's around. Hard to avoid his attention, to remain invisible. He sees me, really sees me, and behind his bright radiance, I can see shadows from his own past crowding in. He's swimming hard to stay afloat even as he reaches for me.

What is he afraid of? And how can he save me from drowning when he can't even save himself?

Stand-alone novel. No cliff-hanger.

Amber and Jesse

Roller-coaster of emotions. Still was a great story!
Amber and Jesse have similar afflictions based on different traumas but still find the beauty in loving each other. Their relationship is very well developed through this book. At some points it was bit predictable but not to much to be annoying. I also love that they speak out on the topic of how bullying can affect people emotionally later in adult life. This is a subject I believe isn't talked about enough, so thanks. That being said I found great joy when Amber conquered her fears to be with Jesse. I so enjoyed this book!

Good series! Love Jesse!

This is the second book in the Damage Control series, about the lives of a bunch of misfits who work at a tattoo parlor as a band of brothers. The heroine is a girl who has been damaged by bullying that was so bad she moved. She has no social skills and few friends, when she meets the hero at a party she's dragged to. He has a reputation as a womanizer and she's not interested nor does she trust men at all. Their romance developed over time with starts and stops. I liked the ending and the narration was very well done. Jo Raven is becoming a really great romance author.

Interesting Story Line

I like this series, it has a great group of friends who support each other and the main characters Jesse and Amber go through a lot. Seems Jesse had the short end of the stick and Amber was his stronghold. Will continue to listen to the rest of this series.

Jesse and Amber

Goodness. Another emotional, heartbreaking, but beautiful story. Jesse has gone through so many things throughout his young life. My heart broke for him. Amber enters his life and changes everything for him. They are absolutely perfect for one another. I adored and enjoyed this book. Sebastian York and Abby Craden were perfect for this book. I loved listening to them.

Jesse's story is more depressing! 😢

Not to the point of crying, but it'll get you down if you think on his past and how it affects his present. Jesse and Amber are so good for each other. She gives him the acceptance he needs and he gives her the confidence she needs. ❤

Hot, hot and more hot

Jesse and Amber’s book pulls two people together who have had so much trauma in their lives, they fit together perfectly. There is beauty in the telling of their story and how they grow together to become stronger. Jesse makes your heart ache with his past. He’s trying so hard to overcome the hand he was dealt, and Amber is the refresher he needs. I enjoyed this story as an audiobook, and it was a good story to listen to. However, I am disappointed that the only way I can find to continue this series is through audiobook.
