About this listen

For too long, representations of climate action in the mainstream media have been white-washed, green-washed and diluted to be made compatible with capitalism.

We are living in an economic system which pursues profit above all else; harmful, oppressive systems that heavily contribute to the climate crisis, and environmental consequences that have been toned down to the masses. Tackling the climate crisis requires us to visit the roots of poverty, capitalist exploitation, police brutality and legal injustice. Climate justice offers the real possibility of huge leaps towards racial equality and collective liberation as it aims to dismantle the very foundations of these issues.

In this book, Mikaela Loach offers a fresh and radical perspective for real climate action that could drastically change the world as we know it for the benefit of us all. Full of candour and hope, It's Not That Radical will galvanise listeners to take action, offering an accessible and transformative appraisal of our circumstances to help mobilise a majority for the future of our planet.

Gentle wake up call

I've been crying and feeling all sorts of emotions, listening to this book. I'm a white, privileged young woman who's always been worried for this planet since I was a kid and already started acting in very small ways. This book made me realize I can do more, I can find my way of actually helping the environment despite being a neurodivergent introverted with a weird and messy life. It also educated me on how oppression and injustice affects us all more than we think and just helped me to tidy up all the doubts I was already having about the capitalistic system, individualism, negativity and binary thinking.
Thank you so much Mikaela for spreading these information and for always being kind and non-judgmental!! (and thanks to Jade Bowler too, who recommended this book in her videos)

Call to action - but make it informed and joyful!

Loved this so much. There are so many bits I could quote or write about but I can't chose. I do know that it's a coming together of so many things I've been feeling, reading and surrounding myself with that how could I not have been moved by it.

understand climate justice + technical problem

Such an important book on the importance of insisting on climate justice. The book offers important arguments for non violent activism and counterarguments for green capitalism. The perspective from a young Jamaican woman of color is something that adds something special. It's an approachable story that gives some new perspectives without being overwhelming. Important note though. Chapter 7 seems to be two audiotracks at the same time. the beginning of the book overlaps with this chapter making it unintelligible... I assume it's a technical problem that's easy to solve for audible.
