なかでも谷中は、1980年代のバブル時代には開発の遅れた場所といわれていた半面、現在でも江戸時代の地図で歩けるほど、昔ながらの暮らしが息づいています。
猫の多い谷根千は「猫の街」とも呼ばれ、明治時代の文豪、夏目漱石の代表作『吾輩は猫である』も、千駄木にあった漱石の家で書かれました。
