About this listen

When it comes to the ethnic divisions in our world, we speak often of seeking racial reconciliation. But at no point have all the different ethnicities on Earth been reconciled. Animosity, distrust, and hostility among people from various ethnicities have always existed in American history. Even in the church, we have often built walls - ethnic segregation, classism, sexism, and theological tribes - to divide God’s people from each other.

But it shouldn’t be this way. God’s people are the only people on earth who have experienced true reconciliation. Who better to enter into the ethnic tensions of our day with the hope of Jesus?

In Intensional, pastor D. A. Horton steps into the tension to offer vision and practical guidance for Christians longing to embrace our Kingdom ethnicity, combating the hatred in our culture with the hope of Jesus Christ.

A good path

For most of us it is hard to articulate racial division or racism. We experience it but have a hard time putting it into words, let alone how to take steps towards correcting it.
This book helped a little to put into words what I have been feeling regarding racial tension, but it was best for knowing what to do at my church. It gives clear steps on how and why we should address ethnic econciliation, not only in our country, but begining in our Churches.
I learned a lot from this book on what to do about the racial tension. I am hoping to read this with church leaders and putting a plan forward so that we are in step with what God calls us to do: be one.

excellent word for today

This book is an excellent challenge to the American church of 2020. Divisive times call for a Church dedicated to the radical unity of the Gospel. It begins with what Horton calls "ethnic conciliation" and leads to a multi-ethnic, multi-generational, multi-cultural church that meets the needs of the community in which it dwells.

Excellent!

Loved the authenticity and depth of this book. At the same time, I felt as though I could engage the solutions presented and was not condemned as an oppressor. This book is focused on Ethnic conciliation and Kingston reconciliation. Would live to work through it with other brothers/sisters! Thank you D.A.!

Informative Paradigm Shift

This book touches on the issues affecting the church as a whole and allows for you to think of things from a different perspective regarding conciliation and bringing about unity and understanding in the body so that we can be the light to the world and to keep the world from dictating how we see injustice and racial equality.

Great Read!! D. A. Horton kills it!!

Really enjoyed this book, so glad that D. A. read this book himself. His cadence and voice inflections were natural/organic which made the listening experience better than other audiobooks.

He handles the subject matter exceptionally with a hopeful tone throughout the entire book. His words are insightful, thought provoking, convicting and inspiring. I will be giving book this multiple listens.

Ethnicity and Preference

D.A. Horton has taken a fresh view of the topics of race and racism through biblical and holistic lenses to create a book that creates accountability without division.

The church (body of Christ) should reflect the Godly character endowed by the spirit to love brothers, sisters and neighbors. D.A. correctly points out that greed was actually the original sin which drove colonists to justify genocide and slavery with the endorsement of the church.

As a single race of diverse ethnicities we should seek ethnic conciliation and discard the false premise of racial reconciliation because no one can answer racial reconcile to what?

The authors perspective as a Hispanic male raised in a black urban environment provides a refreshing view and ability to see and experience actual landscape from 180 degrees.

This is a great book with many fresh and needed views supported by a biblical perspective.

Thank You pastor Horton

Excellent explanation of God’s call to his children in a divided world

Highly recommend this book which provides an excellent breakdown of the current struggle with social justice and antiracism (ethnic conciliation) in the church.
