About this listen

Jessica, Mal, and Azrael bask in the intimacy of the bond they’ve created against all odds. As the Shrouded Isle becomes a true home and friends become family, the idea of public commitment seems possible. However, Jessica wants something from Azrael that he may not be able to give. In addition, Azrael’s new generosity with his fellow magicians may have unforeseen consequences.

When a rogue sorcerer attacks, kidnapping Mal and Jessica, Azrael is treated to a dose of his own memory magic. While Lucy and Tod struggle to find Mal and Jessica, Azrael prepares to wreak havoc on his unsuspecting peers. If Mal and Jessica can’t bring him back to himself, the Shattered Sea may have a new Dark Lord.

Excellent 3rd book in the series. Listen to the first 2 books of the series to get the full story & experience. Narration is excellent!

Great story

I loved reading the book. The story was well developed with well developed plot, and world. The rules for this world are consistent and well understood. The interaction both "G" and "X" rated follow a normal progression. There isnt "R" rates parts just for the heck of it. Those parts of the book enrich the story and not distract from the story. This is a Love story in a true sense of the story. I would recommend this book for anyone who wants to read a love story with many reasons why it shouldn't work but ends in success for each parties needs!

Spellbound, Sensual, Complicated, and Compelling

As with the first two books (Caged, Bonded), A. H. Lee perfectly balances all the things I look for in books such as this…plot, character development, and all the delicious naughty scenes. I love how this book makes me laugh, cry, sigh…and other things.

The relationships deepen in this book and continue to become more intense in ways perhaps you wouldn’t have guessed. Beyond Azrael, Mal, and Jessica, time is also spent on the relationships of other characters (Lucy, Tod) as well…and in a way that they aren’t “extra” but an important part of the whole. We get to see a bit more of Lucy, which I love, and see the relationship between her and Mal develop more. The sex is well balanced as well. It isn’t padding but furthers the plot in some way or is appropriate to the situation. While I love fan-service as much as the next person, I like it to have a purpose. The magic dynamics in these books are solid. This introduces memory magic into the mix and a very clever trap.

One of the biggest reasons I adore this series is because it reflects relationship dynamics that are mirrored in my personal (and very complicated) life. A. H. Lee has taken such excellent care of these characters and I’m continually amazed how authentically she writes these complex relationships. I love seeing a MMF triad being portrayed so well and also with a mix of sexual/romantic orientations/attractions not seen in “typical” triads. I love how the author is not afraid to go a bit unconventional as far as fiction is concerned and portrays what I like to think of as the real world (at least in my neck of the woods). I’m also pleased to see how well power dynamics are managed in this series. So many things that are so amazing about this series when you step back and look at it.

As always, Lauren Harris’s performance was amazing and truly makes this book a joy to listen to.

Love love loved the conclusion!

This book made be so very satisfied. I love a happy ending, and a happy ending is just that much better. Azreal’s memory lost is so heartbreaking, but Mal’s distress to the memory lost just wrenched my heart.
And, as always, Lauren Harris knocked the reading of this book out of the park.

Great Ending

I was very happy with how this series ended. The book had fun new elements while also tying up loose strings from the previous 2 books. Again, pay attention to ALL the warnings. This is strictly an adults only book.

Really fantastic story!

I listened to parts of the story before I bought all three books. I listened to all three books in a row, I was on the edge of my seat so many times, so many twist that I couldn't actually figure out the end game. that usually never happens. The performance made me feel like I was watching a movie the pictures in my mind were so real. Thank You
