About this listen

Best-selling author Lauren Tarshis tackles the Children's Blizzard of 1888 in this latest installment of the groundbreaking, New York Times best-selling I Survived series.

The Schoolhouse Blizzard, also known as the Children's Blizzard or the Great Blizzard of 1888 caught people completely by surprise and resulted in 235 fatalities, including several children in one-room schoolhouses.

What made the storm so deadly was the timing, the suddenness, and the brief spell of warmer weather that preceded it. Lauren Tarshis will place a resilient 11-year-old character in the midst of this deadly blizzard, fighting their way out.

The best in the "I Survived" series...

We have listened to the entire series and this one is the best. The combination of the story plot and the narration was perfect. My son (10) loved his voice so I searched for other books by him, (unfortunately they aren't for young ears!) We have listened to this one over and over.

So good

My boys and I love the “I Survived” series because they are packed full of history and true stories. The Children’s Blizzard was not something we had ever heard of and would never have learned about if not for this book. Incredible history!

Another great story

My children really lobe the I Survived series. I enjoy listening to the stories and the author's notes at the end. These stories make all our trips around town (in the car) more interesting.

Great historical fiction!

Read aloud and used audible some days with my 4th and 5th graders. They didn’t want me to stop reading! Even asked if I could finish it while they were doing a holiday craft on the last day before winter break!
Great additional features in the back of the book.
I believe there are 300+ students hooked on historical fiction and the I Survived series now!
