About this listen

USA Today best seller

New York City's hottest bachelors are stirring up trouble in this fun, flirty Oxford Novel, as a love triangle forces a feisty beauty to choose between winning back Mr. Right or giving in to Mr. Wrong.

Taylor Carr has it all - a sleek job in advertising, a stunning Manhattan apartment, and the perfect man to share it with: Bradley Calloway. Even after Bradley dumps her for a co-worker on move-in day, Taylor isn't worried. She'll get her man eventually. In the meantime, she needs a new roommate. Enter Nick Ballantine, career bartender, freelance writer - and longtime pain in Taylor's ass. Sexy in a permanent five-o'clock-shadow kind of way, Nick knows how to push Taylor's buttons, as if he could see right through to the real her.

Nick's always trying to fix people, and nobody could use a good fixing more than Taylor. Sure, she's gorgeous, with mesmerizing silver eyes, but it's her vulnerability that kills him. Now that they're shacking up together, the chemistry is out of control. Soon they're putting every part of their two-bedroom apartment to good use. Then Taylor's ex comes crawling back to her, and Nick figures she'll jump at the chance to go back to her old life - unless he fights for the best thing that ever happened to him.

Good

I'm not much of an audio girl and the voice of the narrator was very difficult for me to get used to but I ended up enjoying it overall.

Lauren and Maxine are a 10

I have enjoyed all the Oxford and Stiletto books by Lauren. Look forward to each new addition to this series. But especially love audio books like this narrated by Maxine Mitchell because she is beyond superb when it comes to narrating male voices. And she successfully delivers a lot of emotion around both male and female roles. I look for books narrated by Maxine. Scoring the Billionaire is my favorite as Max totally killed her voice roles.

You need this story in your life!

One of my new favorites. I felt all the feels. Cried all the tears and laughed at the playful banter. Worth the credit/money! I’d give 10 stars if I could. I have over 100 audiobooks and only 2 or 3 others inspired me to write full reviews.

story is great, Maxine Mitchel sounds stupid and b

why, oh why does she have to ruin every dang audiobook she narrates? why can she not hear herself and stop trying so dang hard to not be over em-pha-tic? I am all about the New York and Jersey accents, but come on...learn to read with proper rhythm, cadence and infection. sheesh.

Ice Princess no more

this was a great story. Initially I had troubles with Carr's "no nonsense, ice princess that falls and won't get over the not deserving ex boyfrirnd" personality. But as I got to know her...I realize that she is the way she is because of how she was raised. Instead of wanting to get in there and shake some sense into her... I started cheering for her. she was complex and I like watching her grow throughout the book it made the book get so much better and the happily-ever-after was awesome. Nick was a awesome personality for her. he brought out the best in her and together they made an amazing couple.

I love Lauren Layne’s books

I have read all the stiletto series, and now the oxford series. This book is just as good as all the others. The storyline is excellent, and when I had to stop the recording to do other things, I couldn’t wait to get back to it. I originally started buying audiobooks to listen to during my travel time. I now buy the kindle books with the audio version also because the narrator does an excellent job that I find I even sit in the house listening to the story after I get home.

LOVED IT

I got so flustered every time something good / romantic happend between Taylor and Nick and I was so hurt every time something bad happened between them.
The audio make me feel like I was there and I could hear and feel every word they were saying in the exact tone I though they would. I listened to this all day because I couldn't stop.

I Got the FEELS

First off, narrator Maxine Mitchell did a wonderful job and really sold the story and the characters. Second, Lauren Layne is going on my list of authors to look out for.

Admittedly I wasn't really feeling the story at the beginning as I found it to be a little flat and the characters hadn't caught my interest. I almost gave up on continuing after the first 3 chapters but then things started to pickup steam, without being steamy that is. The characters started to become more interesting and their dynamics more captivating.

I liked how this story didn't happen over a days or a few months but rather over a year, nearing two years, giving time for the two love interest to grow individually and then as a couple. There were moments that had me chuckle and then their were moments where I felt my eyes go a little glassy and a bit of heaviness sitting on my chest. I was moved. Although there were a few scenes in the book that were steamy it wasn't the focal point of the story but rather just icing to a delicious romance. I really liked that about this story.

It was fun and interesting to see these two go from Enemies to Frenemies and then finally to Lovers. Both breaking down each other's reserves and allowing themselves to hope for more despite their past coloring how they love or react to each other. Not all romances can be the things that Disney stories are made of, and that is a good thing, because the things that are worth having are the things worth working for and fighting for; which is what Nick and Taylor learned in this story.
