Why are Danes the happiest people in the world? The answer, says Meik Wiking, CEO of the Happiness Research Institute in Copenhagen, is hygge. Loosely translated, hygge - pronounced hoo-ga - is a sense of comfort, togetherness, and well-being. "Hygge is about an atmosphere and an experience," Wiking explains. "It is about being with the people we love. A feeling of home. A feeling that we are safe."

Study after study finds there is one trait that sets the most successful people apart from the rest of us. That one trait isn’t wearing the same shirt everyday or some secret workout formula. The one trait that successful people have is that they know how to form good habits that stick. If you have ever struggled to keep a New Year’s resolution or if you have a hard time meeting your goals, you need this book. This book will teach you how to form good habits, how to make them stick, and what habits you should be forming. The power of habit stacking is that by slowly introducing small habits into your life you start to build synergies. You will begin to be getting more out of each habit every time you stack another, small good habit on top of it. It will seem like magic, but habit stacking is based on science.

Story
The “mountain men” were the hunters and trappers who fiercely strode the Rocky Mountains in the early to mid-1800s. They braved the elements in search of the skins of beavers and other wild animals, to sell or barter for goods. The lifestyle of the mountain men could be harsh, existing as they did among animals, and spending most of their days and nights living and camping out in the great unexplored wilds of the Rockies.

A cozy book!
This book is pleasant, but kind of repetitive and not that informative. Maybe my expectations for the content were not realistic. I didn't regret the time I spent on the book though because it was enjoyable. They were a reminder that hygge is about simple things. The author comes across as a delightful friend who I would love to invite over for a cup of tea by a cozy fire. I found this book well worth listening, and will refer to it again and again.

I really loved this Hygge book, I intuitively do all the things the book recommends, I love all the snuggling, cozy ways to relax. Such a compelling read and so well written, casual and fun. There were so many elements that I do now but so many new ways to incorporate into my life.
