From Thriller Award-winning author Alexandra Sokoloff and Audie Award-winning narrator R.C. Bray (The Martian):

Special Agent Roarke thought he knew what evil was.

He was wrong.

FBI Special Agent Matthew Roarke is closing in on a bust of a major criminal organization in San Francisco when he witnesses an undercover member of his team killed right in front of him on a busy street, an accident Roarke can't believe is coincidental. His suspicions put him on the trail of a mysterious young woman who appears to have been present at each scene of a years-long string of accidents and murders, and who may well be that most rare of killers: a female serial.

Roarke's hunt for her takes him across three states...while in a small coastal town, a young father and his five-year-old son, both wounded from a recent divorce, encounter a lost and compelling young woman on the beach and strike up an unlikely friendship without realizing how deadly she may be.

As Roarke uncovers the shocking truth of her background, he realizes she is on a mission of her own, and he must race to capture her before more blood is shed.

"This interstate manhunt has plenty of thrills.... Sokoloff keeps the drama taut and the pages flying."

First Audio book

I am an avid reader. This was my first audio book. Purchased to listen to during my hour commute. Found myself listening at the gym and every chance I got. Enjoyed the story and the narration. Would recommend this book and the series. Time well spent while driving.

Haunting Book... can't wait to read the next

I chose this book on a "deal" option. Wow! What a winner. If you like the Catherine Coulter FBI series - this will appeal. There are rarely seen dimensions to the character of the killer and a humanness to the FBI agents beyond "the book". The relationship between the serial killer and the agent are unique to any series I have read. Enjoy.

Pretty Good

I really liked this first book - not enough to stick with the series. RC Bray can read a shopping list and make it sound good and he does an amazing job here again. The story is good - give it a shot.

Good storyline

This book has a little different story line and good characterization. I really enjoyed it. although it was a bit too graphic for me in some spots.

Excellent!

This is truly a great book. I loved the way the author hinted around the supernatural all throughout the book, without ever really going there. There are so many tangents in this book, and so many facets to the storyline. I really loved the characters and interaction between them. The protagonist is a woman who lived through some horrible events in her childhood, and the main part of the story deals with her and how she has chosen to respond to her youth. R.C. Bray is a fabulous narrator, and does not disappoint in this book. You will love it!

A Different Kind of Serial Killer

Any additional comments?

It would be easy to say that if you’ve read one FBI crime novel, you’ve read them all but authors manage to keep finding ways to make their own stories just a little bit different, enough to catch a reader’s attention. In Huntress Moon, I was drawn in by the notion of a female serial killer. In real life, such a person is rare and that’s what makes the idea so interesting, at least for me.

Special Agent Roarke is an appealing protagonist in a number of ways, not least of which are his intelligence and his dogged determination to track down this elusive young woman. What’s surprising is how fascinating she is, especially since we don’t even know her name. Clearly, she has an agenda and she hunts her victims as much as Roarke hunts her; with each new killing, she becomes more real, as it were, perhaps just a little more understandable. It becomes difficult to see her as entirely evil when she meets a young father and his son and, yet, she is a bloodthirsty killer. How she came to be the way she is and Roarke’s pursuit of her are what make this such a fine story.

R.C. Bray is a new narrator to me and, at first, I wasn’t completely on board with him largely because his voices seemed not very distinctive. As the novel wore on, his performance became more satisfying and he has won awards so it was my problem, not his. He is the narrator of the second and third books in the trilogy and I’m looking forward to spending time with him again.

An America Girl with the Dragin Tattoo...kinda

Would you consider the audio edition of Huntress Moon to be better than the print version?

Since my busy life doesn't allow me to sit and read, I wouldn't know. However I love the reader and feel like he adds a great voice to the lead male character.

Who was your favorite character and why?

the protagonist female lead.

Which character – as performed by R.C. Bray – was your favorite?

Both the female protagonist and the FBI agaent.the FBI agent Roark.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It kept me listening, through walking the dog, making dinner, lunch breaks at work, etc.

Any additional comments?

Really a great read. As a California native, it's also fun to hear all about the area you are familiar with. I'm a huge fan of serial killer books and police procedural books. This did not disappoint.
