To the point

Like many others of it's kind this book gives a lot of the typical suggestions. I think it could have been improved with more examples and suggestions.

Great Companion!

I have studied so much about different styles of writing. I found this audible book full of extremely helpful reminders when I want to switch to this writing style. I like the arrangement of the chapters and content, short and directly to the point. Nice touch of humor throughout.🙂

too short.

a decent outline, but not long enough, expanded enough, to help me much. unfortunate.

not what I was looking for

the advice is too general and most of it uses examples from novels, not short stories, which was the whole point

Informative and helpful

I’m going to rate Sarah‘s book with four stars, although I feel as if she could have slowed things down a bit. The information felt rushed, and the narrator was a little too dry for my taste. Overall, I took enough away from this book as a new short story writer where it was worth my time and money. I would recommend this book to anyone that’s new to writing short stories.

Meh

There are small pockets of good info, but overall a bit too general. Based on other books covering this topic, I felt some information to be accidentally misleading. Books by Michael Rogan go much deeper and specific. I apologize to the author for recommending another author.

Clickbait Title

This reads as a mishmash and condensation of every writing book ever and has no specific tips for short story writing. An AI would have done better. I wasted $7.

Ironically, too short and no hooks

When it ended, I had to check to make sure I didn't accidentally skip the main part of the book. I don't like leaving negative reviews, but this was weak enough that I want to warn others.
The advice was a mix between middle school writing advice ("Feel free to skip ahead, but let me describe what Point of View is in detail") and draw-the-rest-of-the-owl ("All you have to do is write for hours every single day even when you don't feel like it!")

There are better resources out there.
