Publisher's summary

Every disaster is different
There is no way to predict the exact circumstances that will be part of every situation. Because of this, you need to get ready for any possibilities that could happen. There are disasters that happen every day around the world, the key to surviving a disaster is being prepared for what may happen.

What does survival mean?
Survival is being able not to die without the things you now have. To live with in any situation where those things are no longer available. Do you know what to do and are you prepared to protect and provide for you and your family when no one else can help?

These are not things we want to think about. They are not good thoughts. However, not being ready, will not stop things from happening to you. You need to be ready to deal with the worst-case scenario. This book is not a book dealing with the collapse of the economy or the collapse of the government. I am not saying that will not happen. However, the things in this book are to prepare you for things that happen every day somewhere.

How to survive
A survivor in any situation is a person who uses stress to build them up and get them through the situation. A non-survivor is someone who lets the situation tear them down and give up. When everything you know is in chaos, the ability to deal with the chaos until it is over is what you need to survive.

Read through the book and do the things in the book to get prepared for the things that can happen to your family. Not all places are all these things possible but get prepared for the ones that can happen where you are.
A little preparation or prepping ahead of time will make your getting through these things much easier and could even be the difference between life and death in some situations.

When you set up your plans, plan for getting home and plan for surviving in your home. You can set up a bug out bag and have a plan for bugging out but make that the last option. If you must bug out, your chances of survival will go down.

Set up a bug out bag and use it for things you need. Stay home in most situations. The bug out bag is most useful if you are in a disaster situation where you may have to get out. And depending on the situation, earthquakes, tornadoes, hurricanes, floods, and fires. The BOB will help you if you must survive for several days without help.

What are the top concerns if you are in a serious survival situation?
  • Dying of thirst or a water borne illness. Not having enough clean water to drink is the number-one cause of death for people in severe survival situations.
  • Poor or no planning for survival. Having a plan is the key to surviving if you are in a tough situation. Part of a plan is being in shape to survive.
  • Freezing to death is another concern if you live in a climate where it gets cold. Part of the plan you need to make is how to stay warm when it gets cold.
  • Starving to death is also one of your main concerns. Most people in developed countries go to the grocery store once or more per week. We like to eat fresh food. You need to plan on not having fresh food.
  • Being able to take care of you and your family when suffering a traumatic accident or injury. Learn basic first aid and more advanced first aid. You may not have access to a doctor for a long period. Also keeping any wounds clean and covered to avoid infection.
  • Protecting your family from people who want your survival stuff. You need to have a plan for protection of your family and yourself.
Disasters you should prepare for
  • extended power outages
  • major snow storms
  • flooding
  • earthquakes
  • tornadoes
  • hurricanes
  • home fires
  • forest fires
We need to think about these things.
