Some Heroes Wear Capes

What an absolute honor and JOY to have Shereen Marisol Meraji back in our ears!! For those of us who have so missed hearing this beloved icon, good luck pacing yourself through these beautiful stories of inspiration, hope, and GRACE. Grace for yourself and others, that’s what struck me. No one on this planet interviews like SMM. No. Body! And the result is genuine, vulnerable moments of laughter, heart, intimacy and points of personal connection with every guest - from high profile politicians to fancy designers to teachers!! THAT’S what this storytelling genius DOES. For example, Gov Whitmer’s reasoning for setting her alarm at 5:02 instead of 5, I’m totally with her (+2 hours for me lol). So much work went into making this happen and you can HEAR IT! Some heroes wear capes, others wear (what I imagine to be a whole lot of) audio gear :). Congrats on this beautiful and moving show, to the team that made it happen, and to SMM’s vision, talent, and GIFT that we all get to enjoy. I kept thinking, someone should interview the badass host, she belongs in this lineup! Bonus episode? Peace!!

An amazing balance of seriousness and humor

It is difficult to interview anyone in Washington and get inside their heads and souls, while also capturing the full picture of who the person is outside their office. Shereen’s interview with Gretchen Whitmer does that in spades and sets the tone for the entire series. Audio production and quality of storytelling top-notch and the episodes themsleves strike the right balance of humor and objective seriousness at a time when the stories of these women deserve nothing less. An absolute podcasting masterclass and tour de force.

Relatable, helpful, and beautifully produced.

I'm struck by the intimacy of the exchanges, and a power to each episode that snuck up on me as I listened. That's no doubt due to Meraji's intelligence, wit, and warmth, and also great production quality.
