Don't let the title fool you. This isn't a book about high fiving everyone else in your life. You're already doing that. Cheering for your favorite teams. Celebrating your friends. Supporting the people you love as they go after what they want in life. Imagine if you gave that same love and encouragement to yourself. Or even better, you made it a daily habit. You'd be unstoppable. In this book, Mel teaches you how to start high fiving the most important person in your life, the one who is staring back at you in the mirror: YOURSELF.

Author Lisa Bilyeu grew up in London, where she was always told her dreams of Hollywood were a little too big for a girl. Despite her first love of movie-making, Lisa moved to Los Angeles and became a housewife—for eight frickin’ years! How the heck did that happen? Radical Confidence is the “empowering, transformative, and practical” (Jay Shetty, #1 New York Times bestselling author of Think Like A Monk) story of how Lisa unpaused her life to cofound a company that went from zero to a billion dollars in just five years and became the leader in the world of personal development.

Publisher's summary
Forget hustle harder. Forget a mandatory 5 a.m. wake-up. Forget outlining your life plan in six-month, one-year, and five-year spans. We're living in a cultural shift as we reframe our perspectives around the purpose of work, what work/life balance really means, and how we want to spend our time on this planet. In her first book, Jenna Kutcher—entrepreneur, photographer, influencer, teacher, mom, and host of the wildly popular Goal Digger podcast—shares her philosophy on how to live a life that exists outside the tired cliché of “having it all.” How Are You, Really? is about taking a moment to soak up the richness of our experiences and creating a life that makes room for more actual living.
When Jenna Kutcher was 23, she left her corporate job, bought a camera on Craigslist for $300, and started her own business as a wedding photographer. From that single investment in herself, she built a successful company, a thriving podcast, and a beautiful brand. But her driving force has never been about working harder/smarter/faster/better. What Jenna Kutcher embraces is the simple notion that we, women especially, crave lives of fulfillment.
Divided into three sections, How Are You, Really? is a guide to creating such a life.
In Part One: Who You Are, Jenna uses stories from her childhood, some career false starts, her marriage and path to motherhood, and more to show how to crystallize your sense of your own identity. Because how can you know what you really, truly want out of your future if you don’t see yourself clearly in the present? In Part Two: Who You Have, and Who Has You, Jenna shows the benefits of a support system, how mentorship and kindness can come in surprising ways and from surprising sources, and how to build your own authentic community. In Part Three: What You’re Going to Do About It, Jenna guides you through illustrations from her career on how to turn your deepest dream into a life that brings success, joy, and—most importantly--the time to enjoy the fruits of your labor. We all want, simply put, a life well-lived.
So, ask yourself the question you’ve been avoiding.
How are you, really?
It’s time to find your answer, and start living.
If you've ever felt stuck in a rut, unsure of how to move forward and find happiness, this book is for you. Jenna Kutcher's powerful message of self-acceptance and empowerment will help you break free from limiting beliefs and start living the life you were meant to lead.

Our hyper-connected era has led us to believe life should be a highlight reel - where what matters most is perfect beauty, instant success, and ready applause. What could possibly be “lucky” about addiction? Absolutely nothing, thought Laura McKowen when drinking brought her to her knees. As she puts it, she “kicked and screamed . . . wishing for something - anything - else” to be her issue. The people who got to drink normally, she thought, were so damn lucky. But in the midst of early sobriety, when no longer able to anesthetize her pain and anxiety, she realized that she was actually the lucky one. Lucky to feel her feelings, live honestly, really be with her daughter, change her legacy.

you have to make it past the first part
Overall, a great read. First few chapters very preachy and I almost returned. Then gold! she started telling stories of her life that were so relatable. I had NO idea who she was until I read the book, but so glad I kept with it.

Hopeful
I this has left me with some hope though a bit puzzled . My beliefs are as they have always been just very hard to apply all this in my own life . I don't know if Jenna has ever been without any support on this earth as I am .

Remember to rest and check in with yourself
Good story and message, but a long winded way of putting it. I love Jenna though so happy to hear it from her.

WOW.
I mean truly just wow.
I absolutely loved this. I loved every second. It made me laugh - it made me cry - it made me smile - it made me really dig deep. We are all capable of so much. So so much. If you are feeling blah , stuck , broken , sad - this is something you need. She provides such good tools & stories!

A wake up call I didn’t know I needed
Wow. This book brought me to tears, inspired me, had me feel all sorts of feelings, and was the exactly what I needed.
If you’re looking for something to push you over the edge of being done with mediocrity in your life, this is it. Jenna takes you on a journey of wake up call to inspiration to action.
This book was much needed in my life and I’m glad I gave it a shot. I’ve listened to it once and will be listening to it again and doing the writing prompts next time.
