About this listen

Andy Carpenter isn't sure what to think when he gets a mysterious phone call from a good friend, policeman Pete Stanton, asking him to drop everything, drive to an unfamiliar address, and bring his girlfriend, Laurie Collins. He certainly isn't expecting to show up at a crime scene. But that's exactly where he arrives - at the house where Pete has just discovered the body of ex-convict Danny Balfour. Upstairs are Danny's now orphaned four-year-old son and basset hound. And that, Andy discovers, is why he and Laurie were called to the scene - Pete wants them to take care of the boy and the dog so they won't get thrown into the "system". This is already asking a lot, but soon Pete needs another big favor from Andy. Pete himself has come under suspicion for Danny's murder, and he needs defense attorney Andy to represent him - and to find out what really happened in Danny's house that day!

Another win for Andy Carpenter.

If you are a fan of Andy Carpenter you will not be disappointed. Andy is such a nerd, he cracks me up. This time he has to defend his friend Pete while at the same time watch a kid named Ricky. Andy doesn't really know what to do with a kid, luckily he has Laurie. Right from the beginning I was laughing at Andy's shenanigans. David Rosenfelt has made me a fan of this series and as long as he writes Andy Carpenter I will listen to his work. The narrator is part of the creation of this awesome character, he does an awesome job portraying Andy Carpenter.

Andy Carpenter Does It Again

Best of the best! The Andy Carpenter series is one of my absolute favorites and the mystery combined with a super sense of humor makes reading these books pure pleasure. Can't imagine anyone but Grover Gardner bringing this super series to life.

Best Ending Ever

As usual the story was great. I can't get over how David Rosenfelt comes up with so many different plot lines. Grover Gardner did a great job with the nuances of the speech patterns of the various characters. But the best part is the ending.

these are old friends by now

Any additional comments?

I have listened to (or read the ones not available on audible) all 11 of the books in the series leading up to this one. I'm actually a little sad that I'm catching up to the most recent publication. These aren't great literature or challenging reads - but they are perfect for what they are - thoroughly enjoyable mysteries with plenty of likable, though quirky, characters, and lots of humor. Anyone who loves dogs, sarcasm, or mysteries will enjoy these books.

Great Story!

This is a great story with a number of inter-woven plots that fit together very well. As always, David includes a ton of humor in with the mystery and the overall effect is one enjoyable experience. And there were a number of surprises in this story that I would not have expected from Andy Carpenter, even after listening to the whole series.

Another Winner in the David Carpenter Series

This book did not disappoint me! It was David Rosenfelt's usual mystery, challenging to try and decide who the culprit was, and full of his usual lighthearted humor! I am hooked on this series, and this was book 12 for me, so I am beginning to get a little sad thinking I may reach the end of the series soon! Hoping there are many more!

Another Andy Carpenter Gem

What did you love best about Hounded?

All the familiar characters and a good story with clever twists. Grover Gardner IS Andy Carpenter. The right voice, the right inflections, the right delivery of amusing lines, and the perfect read which captures Andy's wise guy, coward character in a most entertaining way.

Any additional comments?

As with others in the series, the end comes too soon.

I love this series...

I have been waiting anxiously for the next book in the Andy Carpenter series and I nearly missed it. It was usually in the Mystery/Legal category. I ran out of books to listen to so I happened to go to Mystery/Suspense (a category I do not often visit) and there is was! I love Grover Gardner as the narrator. To me he is Andy. There is always some humor intermixed in these books and I appreciate that aspect very much. This series is candy to me...

Although there is violence in this book, it is not graphic. Give this series a try... enjoy.
