Story
Dreamy fantasy stories have actually been a trend. They’ve inspired millions. As opposed to the lengthy novels, these stories are short but cut to the chase in an instant. They light up the weird and the uncanny, the marvelous as well as the fantastic: All the things we know are going beyond the reasonable and instantly realistic - into looking-glass, beyond the songs of the impossibly haunting violin, with the twisted trees of the ancient timbers.

Story
Brace yourself. You will begin to listen to all kinds of stories, from zombie-killing individuals to spooky warnings from ghosts. Most of these are not heavy, gory horror stories but lightly sprinkled humorous ones with casual plot twists that most people will enjoy. Murder is definitely one of the main themes as is survival in a post-apocalyptic era. Ghosts and beasts in different forms will adorn the elements of these psychological and action-packed stories.

A master storyteller at his best - the O. Henry Prize winner Stephen King delivers a generous collection of stories, several of them brand-new, featuring revelatory autobiographical comments on when, why, and how he came to write (or rewrite) each story. Magnificent, eerie, utterly compelling, these stories comprise one of King's finest gifts to his constant fan. "I made them especially for you," says King. Story
These short stories can make you shiver and sit on the edge of your seat. Some humorous anecdotes and some interesting plot twists are integrated, and the main theme of most of them is zombies. Get ready to hear about murdered victims, girls who interact with ghosts, zombie apocalypse killing sprees, lost tragedies, confused monsters, and creatures from the deep. None of these stories are directly related, which makes it a fun combo to buy, to get more plot material for less money.

The first dragonrider in over a hundred years has been born...and it’s a girl. Never before has a female been chosen to ride a dragon. The Elite, a guild comprised exclusively of dragonriders, is dead according to most. No one has seen a rider in decades. The problems they used to fight overwhelm the world. Dragons are thought to be near extinction. However, the Elite aren’t dead...It’s just that a bunch of crusty old men who do nothing that benefits the world at large are easy to mistake as useless corpses. Sophia Beaufont is about to change all of that.

Story
Our hero entered the store that fateful evening and became involved in a life-or-death game arranged by a mysterious creature. He survived, but instead of being on Earth, he now appeared to be in a different world, with other people who had passed a similarly deadly test. Some made it through by using force, some by using their cunning.... Everyone has their own story, but they all have one thing in common - there are no good people among them.

Story
When freakish storms envelope the Earth, people start disappearing without a trace. Wild theories abound: Is it aliens, spontaneous combustion, or perhaps quantum entanglement? The only ones who might know are those who have vanished. An average group of gamers is setting up to start a new campaign. The storms rage across the world, but they only care about the game they are about to start. Little do they know that they would be next to disappear from the face of the Earth.

Name's Kane, Kate Kane. I'm a paranormal private investigator, which is like a normal private investigator except - and stop me if you're having trouble following this - more paranormal. This business comes with a few basic rules: don't start drinking before noon, don't get your partner killed, don't sleep with the woman who killed him. Last year I broke all of them.

I enjoy stories like this
I am honestly impressed with the professional tone of voice, the content, the plots of the different short stories. It was a good experience. I love the horror genre, and this was definitely it for me.

Nothing wrong with this
There is literally nothing wrong with this book, in my opinion. I enjoyed the stories, the mystery, the murder and the crime. It was full of zombies and ghosts, and that was good enough for me.

This is good
This is one of the better books I've listened to lately. It contains some pretty scary stories, but not cruel or gruesome. So if you're into a lot of blood, this is not it. If you're into ghosts, monsters, and mysteries, this is a good one. No doubt. That being said, I really enjoyed it.

Wow
Good stories. The cover looks scarier than a lot of the short stories in there. I thoroughly enjoyed it, though.

Narration killed it for me
I felt like the narrator doesn't know how to pause during certain instances that would bring the situation to life or even add feeling to the characters. At first I thought I must have pressed something to speed up the narration but nope just felt like an audio speed read. Wish I could have listened to the whole thing to really rate the stories, but I just couldn't get past the first 10 minutes of narration.

Narrator ruined it
The narrator for this story absolutely ruined it for me. Their voice is monotone through out every single story, even when it is stated that a character cried out or yelled it is all still just a drab monotone reading. There are a lot of action scenes in the stories this book contains and I feel they really could have benefited from even some light inflection of tone. There’s no differentiation in tone between when a character is sad, scared, bored or even screaming! I will say that the narrator isn’t the only thing that made this book less enjoyable. The writer often uses two words to describe something that totally contradict each other such as “she said silently” how can someone say something and it still be silent? She said softly or quietly would have gone better. There are a lot of instances in this book that made me do a double take because the word being used did not seem to fit the narration previous or did not fit contextually. The narrator also has a tendency to run chapter titles into the story. There are is no break or pause to tell you when the chapter title announcement ends and the story actually continues because they are ran together and the lack of inflection makes it all just sound the same. The stories are also not scary at all, they seem more intended for a preteen audience than anything. The stories are slightly interesting but not enough to cancel out the negative qualities this book has. I would recommend this book for preteens and anyone who is looking for a book to put them to sleep (the narration is so even And monotone it often lulls you to sleep).

Written for children or by a child?
Nothing scary about these stories and the writing seems geared toward children more than adults. Some of it was so painful to listen to that I had to stop listening for long periods on occasion before trying to finish the stories. The way the characters speak made me think they were all little kids. Adults don't talk like that. Never would've purchased this for myself but might be fine for children under 13.
