Feminist grade: A

Probably the least problematic romance novel with an alpha male. Loved the story and the characters.

Captivating

I thought this book was very interesting, it might not be for everyone but I sure enjoyed it.

The story was good and had some unexpected twists. Left with a cliffhanger which I can find no reference to in future book synopsis!

one of my favorites

Excellent, original story. I cheered for all the characters, especially Lou(ise) and Callum (but not the bad guys, of course). I have repeatedly listened to this book - too many to count. I highly recommend this book. Mystery, rescue, lots of fun.

Keeps your interest

Several turns in the plot to keep you wanting to know how things are goin to turn out. I’m actually looking forward to book 2 to see what’s next in the lives of the characters

Great Narrator!

I’m not sure if it’s the narrator herself or the pairing of the writing with her voice, but this book was completely brought to life in all the best ways. I agree with the other reviews that it’s a little disappointing we don’t get the male POV, but once you’re aware it kind of works with this character that you never really know what is going on in his head. I will warn others that this book ends on the WORST kind of cliffhanger. I’m talking middle of a sentence and then the book just ends with the reader/listener not knowing what is happening. So if you don’t want to invest in the whole series (which I highly recommend you DO) don’t attempt.

Intrigue, Choices, Colorado...

Amazing intrigue and multiple story lines to follow -- once you figure them all out!

Lou Sparks was initially portrayed as a girl that was working on her own issues, own abilities and suddenly presented with so many options, so many fabulous men at her finger tips... which will she choose? Will she actually become proficient at the cold water diving? Will she figure out how to fall in line with her team lead's requests, behave so to speak? Now, a dead body which she discovers.

As we learn, Lou is determined, intelligent and relentless. She goes after what she wants and doesn't back down. More than that, she has a whole past that comes into focus ... her present right there in the Colorado Mountains, not left behind from the east coast.

This book gives the reader so many angles and so much of that "wait and see" that I couldn't stop reading.....

Not your Average Romance Novel

This book and author in general has been a surprise in a good way. The story of this one in particular was more intense than I expected with the stalking scenario being a little too realistic so be aware of that. It got to me a little more than the action in her Rocky Mountain Bounty Hunter series, so if you’re like me wish diagnosed PTSD be aware of what you are getting into😅 I appreciate that the female protagonists in her books show vulnerability but also do badass stuff and aren’t one dimensional damsels. It isn’t often that impulse purchase books from an author I’ve never heard of without any kind of recommendation to end up with this good of a story.

Go Sparks!!

This is the first book for me by this author and I have to say, I truly enjoyed the story. Lou Sparks is my spirit animal. Seriously, she’s tinker bell, but with adhd with a side of completely mental kookiness but it works. She’s one of those characters you instantly love and that has you saying, I have a friend like that.

This story had me going and going. Lou and Callum make an odd but resilient “couple” in the beginning. He tends to be a little intense and she’s a little too laid back but you put them together and it’s like the Odd Couple meets Ross and Rachel from friends, though a much hotter and gruffer Ross. Did I mention, hotter? I mean, Hot marine in the room. Oorah!

I loved how they played off of each other. Each has their own strengths and weaknesses yet they’re both stubborn and determined enough to fight to save each other’s lives.

It’s a story of love, honor and determination.
