About this listen

It's her wedding day and there is no groom in sight. But why should Amelia Brice be surprised? Hiram, Lord Friar, is known for having no gentleman's honor to speak of, and jilting her on their wedding day makes it official. Elijah Banks cannot allow his childhood friend to continue to be shamed this way. It's been almost an hour past the time when the wedding was to start, and that bounder still hasn't shown up.

Unable to sit still a second longer, Elijah does the only thing that seems logical from where he stands: kidnap the bride and marry her himself in order to escape this scandal with one far more forgiving for a young lady's reputation. The only trouble is, she has a secret - but so does he. Hers is big, but his is bigger.

Terrible performance

I know it's a good story - I've read it before and own most of the Banks family stories for Kindle. But the narration was absolutely terrible. I tried to stick it out, but after less than 10 minutes I seriously contemplated getting back my $1.99 for it.

Good story, bad narrator

Would you try another book from Rose Gordon and/or Michelle Anne Johnson?

I would try another book from Rose Gordon, but if narrated by Michelle Anne Johnson, I will rather change to reading the book and not listeining to the book. The narrator is awful, even a 10 year old could read better than she can.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

The ending was very sweet and expected.

Would you be willing to try another one of Michelle Anne Johnson’s performances?

Definitely not!!!!

Any additional comments?

Good book, awful narrator. Listening to the narrator struggle through words and sentences takes away the joy of listening to a good book. The narration sounds like a train jerking all the way unhill, never to flow regally down the hill. The story takes place in England, early 19th Century, yet the narrator has this irritating American accent. It is so out of place as if one of the characters jumped into an automobile instead of a horse and carriage. Please Michelle, rather read modern children books.

Ridiculous

I stopped listening at chapter 13. Amelia was ridiculous, no one would behave the way she did. I just couldn't take it seriously
