Another winner from the author and narrator

I’m not surprised that Rachelle wrote another winner. This one shattered your heart on life , family and the human race. But like always Rachelle brought it all back together again. The team of Tor Thom and Charley did a fantastic work. They did all the characters parts right on the voices were clear .

What happens when a female decides to leave home, Amber has no choice but to run . Amber runs with her 3 month old son. Why ? Her ex boyfriend Hunter is abusing her. Tragedy sends Amber back home and before she knows it she’s in hunter eye. Eventually she asks Nate for help. Nate agrees
Nate and his mom run a hotel with a bar . When Amber asks for help Nate readily agrees . Nate had feelings for Amber before she ran.
Both Nate and Amber are stuck in an ice storm will Hunter track them down or will they find a way

Interesting story

This story was interesting. It took me a while to get into it and when I finally did, I was happy. I wasn't sure if I would like this book but it ended up being really good.

The narration was great as usual with Tor and Charley!

Great romantic suspense!

Every time I listen to Rachelle Ayala, I know I am in for a treat. A new adult story of finding yourself despite your circumstances, Ayala has incorporated love and suspense into the web. Amber has left home to flee her overbearing parents and find her freedom. Little did she know Hunter, the man that picks her up would be her nightmare. She is able to escape and when she finds out her Grandmother is sick, she travels home to say her goodbye. What she doesn't know is Hunter, is still looking for her. Seeking help from her friend Nate, she attempts to stay hidden and safe. Can Nate keep her safe from Hunter? Will secrets be revealed? In true Ayala fashion, I took away a few lessons embedded into this gem of a story along with a sweet romance, high thrills and an ice storm to cripple any town!

Tor Thom and Charley Ongel are a team able to narrate any genre given to them. With this story, the inflections of both narrators gave us the fear of the hunt along with young and unconditional love. Their ability to draw us in and make us see and feel the story is impeccable creating a magnificent listen.

Romance with suspence

This book had me on the edge of my seat at times. I laughed, I cried and I cheered (OK, that last one was silent) during various parts of this book. From the very first page this book had my full attention and it kept it right to the very end.

Amber and Nate are great lead characters, by the end of the first chapter I couldn't help but want everything to work out for them. The surrounding characters are also well crafted and their strong personalities create some very funny scenes.

All the right feelings are conveyed throughout this book from love, to fear, from tension, to relief and more, it was a journey that took me along for the ride.

The character voices are well done and the two narrators work well together to create a consistent delivery that works well with the story.

I received a free copy of this book from the author and/or narrator and/or publisher and I voluntarily wrote this honest review.

A suspense filled story

This audiobook’s style was a little different to other stories written by this author.
This one is filled with suspense, many twists and turns, and a very evil man.
Amber McKay and Nate Riley were good childhood friends filled with hopes and plans for a future that took them away from their little town and to new adventures.
But life turned out differently and their dreams never materialized. Nate stayed in town and though Amber left home, she hooked up with the wrong man.
Now escaping this man , determined to see her sick grandmother, she disguises herself and returns with her baby.
From that moment on, the action is non-stop. Will Amber escape Hunter, who’s hunting her, or will she lose her battle as well as her child and a future with Nate.
It was an engaging story.
As to the audio, not sure how I like listening to three instead of two POV. That said, the narration was good.

Will the prodigal daughter be welcomed home?

This author always weaves the theme of forgiveness through her books, and this was no exception. The story reminds me of the prodigal son, except this is a girl, and she runs away from her family. That said, like the prodigal son, Amber returns home after a couple of years, mainly because her beloved grandma is dying, but hoping for reconciliation with her family. She returns with lots of baggage...figuratively. You see, Amber was picked up by a fur trapper when she ran away, and was all but held hostage for a year. Since she was from a sheltered home...daughter of a ultra conservative pastor...the 'real' world took some getting used to. When Amber became pregnant, the fur trapper, Hunter, took her to have an abortion, but she ran away. Now she's returned home, with a newborn and nowhere to go. She enlists the help of her childhood friend, Nate, who's a barkeeper and innkeeper. How will Nate react when he realizes that Amber has a baby? Will he ignore small town gossip or send her away? To add some drama...the fur trapper is in town hunting for Amber...will he force her to return to the mountains with him? Lots of action and self examination packed into this relatively short story. The ending was perfect...just the HEA needed after all that Amber has endured. As always, the narration team does an phenomenal job pulling you into the story.
I accepted a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

She only wants love and freedom

Amber McKay only wants to be free, live her life her way, not under the restraints of her parents, so she runs. Only she runs into the arms of a dangerous man and he is forcing her to give up something precious to her. She knows that can’t happen, and runs again. Amber finds she must return to the town she has fled, her grandmother is dying and she needs to say goodbye. There is only one person she left behind that she feels will help, Nate Riley, but can she lie to Nate keep her secrets, get in and out of town without being discovered? Then there is her heart she gave to Nate years ago, what of it? Then there is also the evil Hunter Dixon that wants her back no matter what the price.
Lies, deception, intrigue, have all been spun into this story the author Rachelle Ayala has captured along with love and freedom this young woman wants to possess.
Thank you Rachelle, Tor Thom and Charley Ongel for gifting me this at the edge of your seat audible book. Tor and Charley you did an excellent job in your narration, as always.

suspenseful romance.

this is quite a bit different than most Rachele Ayala books. But I like a good suspense and Rachelle writes as good a suspense as she does romance.
Amber was raised but church-going parents and not let out much. She runs away at 18 get pregnant by the man she thinks loves her, then finds out life with him is worse than home. she escapes and runs back to her only friend Nate hoping for some help.

The story is suspenseful, gripping and a touch of romance.
As usual Tor Thom and Charlie Ongel do a great job of narrating. they bring the characters and story to life. I love duo reviews with both male and female characters.
