About this listen

On the day we choose our wedding rings, my fiancé vanishes into thin air.

My fiancé brought me tea and scrambled eggs in bed that morning, and we snuggled together, talking about buying our rings, and about our perfect wedding next year.

Then we headed into town. He held my hand and gazed at the ring I liked best, a smile spreading slowly over his face. Then a glass of bubbly to celebrate. I felt flushed, excited and ready for the rest of my life with the man I loved.

We race to get on the train home. It screams to a halt and I run towards its open doors. Made it.

I think he’s right behind me — but when I turn around, he’s gone.

Enjoyed everything but the ending

Great novel with interesting characters and captivating plot. Without giving away any spoilers, I felt the ending really fell flat. While the “twist” was surprising, I felt like the ending was hurried over by the author. Not sure if there will be a part 2, so it would have been nice to wrap up the loose ends.

That ending was not it.

I’m really disappointed in this book. I was hooked and then the last 2 hours made me regret reading it at all. The ending was awful. Zero character redemption and that last bit was just… what? What a waste.

Great read! I could not stop listening!

Highly recommend! A great mystery that keeps you guessing the entire time. When you think you know the truth there’s another twist and the author did a great job of closing out the story.

I loved this book - but .....

This book kept me on the leash from the very beginning. They way the story unfolded and how it was told was just great. The narrators were all very, very good. I do want to point out one HUGE disappointment (for me) about this book. The ending, while intriguing, was unfulfilling and left much to be desired. I sort of, (I guess) get the why of it (but maybe not for sure), but it was almost as if the author could not find a way to tie it up in a way that would leave the reader fulfilled and instead went in a direction that left me 1) shocked; and, 2) less than satisfied with the story's ending. I know this book was just released on the 21st of November, so I'll be waiting and interested in reading other readers' reviews. I will read more of her books, but hope the be fulfilled at the end.

Confusion interrupted ...

I discovered “He's Gone” by Rebecca Collimosse on Audible Plus. As a fan of British thrillers, I was content to hear the talented vocals of Victoria Blunt, Cicely Whitehead and Joe Eyre as they brought this unique mystery to life. The story begins on a joyful day with a couple excited to choose their wedding rings. But in an instant, her fiancé vanishes, leaving her bewildered and desperate for answers. The author interweaves a tale that's suspenseful, keeping my attention until it just didn't anymore. The plot slowed down and I Iost interest and just didn't care. Eventually I jumped chapters ahead to the most ridiculous ending. Perhaps it was me? Maybe. Not sure. Each to their own.

Note: Some may want to take advantage and grab "He's Gone" before the title disappears from the Audible Plus catalogue.

The last few chapters

I initially liked the story; however, the last few chapters just dropped off and ended without a good ending. None of it was tied up, and it left me going “really that is the end”?

The ending wasn’t satisfying

I know things can’t always end the way I want them to, but the ending didn’t satisfy.

Hated the ending

I enjoyed the entire story until the end. Absolutely hated it. I’d say more but don’t want to give it away.

Interesting story, great narration, bad ending

Have just finished this book and I feel disappointed. I don’t know why. I didn’t read the reviews prior to listening, if I had I probably wouldn’t have listened. I actually really enjoyed the story line, I didn’t mind the way it was drawn out because I knew a clue was just around the corner. I just don’t know about the ending.., it all happened fast, no happy ending, and in the end predictable. However, I would be interested in more from the author.

Wonder

What would have happened if John had not left. Some twists and turns. I kind of figured out who was responsible but still surprised by the ending.
