Acerca de esta escucha
Are you parenting a child with "extreme" picky eating? Having a child with "extreme" picky eating is frustrating and sometimes scary. Children with feeding disorders, food aversions, or selective eating often experience anxiety around food, and the power struggles can negatively impact your relationship with your child. But you don't have to choose between fighting over every bite and only serving a handful of safe foods for years on end.
Helping Your Child with Extreme Picky Eating offers hope, even if your child has "failed" feeding therapies before. After gaining a foundation of understanding of your child's challenges and the dynamics at play, you'll be ready for the five steps that transform feeding and meals, so your child can learn to enjoy a variety of foods in the right amounts for healthy growth. You'll discover specific strategies for dealing with anxiety, low appetite, sensory challenges, autism spectrum-related feeding issues, oral motor delay, and medically based feeding problems. Tips and exercises reinforce what you've learned, and dozens of "scripts" help you respond to your child in the heat of the moment, as well as to others in your child's life as you help them support your family on this journey. This book will prove an invaluable guide to restore peace to your dinner table and help you raise a healthy eater.

For more than 29 years, I was an extremely picky eater. My parents were told, year after year, I would just “grow out of it”. Except, I didn’t. I remember when I was little, sitting at the kitchen table with my Mom, who would say, “Please just take one little bite!” I so badly wanted to, but I just couldn’t, and both of us wound up so frustrated and upset.

Dr. Ross Greene, a distinguished clinician and pioneer in the treatment of kids with social, emotional, and behavioral challenges, has worked with thousands of explosive children, and he has good news: these kids aren't attentionseeking, manipulative, or unmotivated, and their parents aren't passive, permissive disciplinarians. Rather, explosive kids are lacking some crucial skills in the domains of flexibility/adaptability, frustration tolerance, and problem solving, and they require a different approach.

Many of us know we're putting too much pressure on our kids - and on ourselves - but how do we get off this crazy train? We want our children to succeed, to be their best, and to do their best, but what if they are not on board? A few years ago, Ned Johnson and Bill Stixrud started noticing the same problem from different angles: even high-performing kids were coming to them acutely stressed and lacking any real motivation. Many complained that they had no real control over their lives.

Historia
Over her decades as a clinical psychologist, Dr. Mona Delahooke has routinely counseled distraught parents who struggle to manage their children’s challenging, sometimes oppositional behaviors. These families are understandably focused on correcting or improving a child’s lack of compliance, emotional outbursts, tantrums, and other “out of control” behavior. But, as she has shared with these families, a perspective shift is needed. Behavior, no matter how challenging, is not the problem but a symptom; a clue about what is happening in a child’s unique physiologic makeup.

Breaking Free of Child Anxiety and OCD is the first and only book to provide a completely parent-based treatment program for child and adolescent anxiety. Parents will learn how to alleviate their children's anxiety by changing the way they themselves respond to their children's symptoms - importantly, parents are not required to impose changes on their children's behavior. Instead, parents are shown how to replace their own accommodating behaviors with supportive responses that demonstrate both acceptance of children's difficulties and confidence in their ability to cope.

Fresh ideas.
This book is very general but still very insightful.
My daughter has Pandas/Pans and Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD), and of course all of the OCD and anxiety that comes along with it. I have been reading, researching, going to therapy etc. etc. for about five years now. This book is a good read that I was able to pull some good notes from; it was worth my time. Thank you.

Useful book for helping extremely picky eaters
Useful tips and empathetic to the struggle of parents have with picky eaters. Keep an open mind when listening as the information is not traditional feeding instructions- which doesn’t work for extremely picky eaters anyways.
