Publisher's summary

Nash is the reliable one in the Holly family, the guy everyone counts on to keep things going. His genius twin brother is off at university, so Nash runs the family's auto repair business and cares for his partially-paralyzed little sister while his crackpot father invents. His life seems mapped out for the foreseeable future, however much that might chafe.

So when Wolf's Landing actor Spencer Kepler-Constantine lands in his life, Nash is ready for a diversion. Spencer is in the middle of a very painful, very public divorce and isn't ready for a relationship - not that Nash wants one. But they both need a friend, especially one with benefits.

As they grow closer, Nash starts to see his family in a whole new light. Do they really need him so badly? Or does he simply need to be needed? Then Spencer's ex reappears with a grand romantic gesture, and Nash has to figure out what he wants - and how to get it - before Spencer's gone for good.

An excellent story with many delights

ZA Maxfield is one of the first romance writers I started reading. She enthralled me long ago and still does.

This story is a gem. Two guys I liked and therefore could enjoy getting into their lives. Mrs. Maxfield brings out the story with a well placed book not flawed by the old of boring tropes usually found in M/M romances. Even the ancillary characters were brought to life enjoyably.

Highly recommended stand-alone book with a happily ever after.

Another ZA Maxfield Home Run!

Would you listen to Hell on Wheels again? Why?

YES! Absolutely! I loved the little moments of joy that had me smiling from ear to ear. The characters really pop, even the side characters. Enjoyable! The narrations is great as well!

What other book might you compare Hell on Wheels to and why?

Drawn Together, By ZA Maxfield. The story moves along nicely and the build of the relationship is close to perfect. I got sad when there were only five hours left, I wanted this book to be longer!

What does Nick J. Russo bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The narration is very well done. I never had an issue trying to figure out who was talking/ thinking. And the reader kept me submerged in the story.

Who was the most memorable character of Hell on Wheels and why?

Bass. (Bast?) He sees all, knows all. Very shrewd. Everyone needs one.

Any additional comments?

This was my first Bluewater Bay novel. I'll be getting the others if this one is any indication of quality!

My favorite of the series so far!

I've seen mixed reviews on this book, but I really liked it. I liked Nash. He has a big heart and needs to be needed. He's loyal to his family, especially his sister who's in a wheelchair. It should also be mentioned that Nash has an identical twin brother, Healy, who's also gay. I found that interesting. Makes me wonder how common that is. Also makes me wonder if we'll be getting Healy's story at some point.

Spencer is a British actor with an occasional role on Wolf's Landing. Nick Russo did an outstanding job with the British accent. He's definitely one of my favorite narrators and one of the main reasons I have enjoyed this series so much!

Light, Humorous and Heartwarming Romance

If you could sum up Hell on Wheels in three words, what would they be?

Unexpected, Engaging, Fun

Who was your favorite character and why?

Nash's dad. He was eccentric, but loving. Unintentionally funny. Still believed in love after all he had been through.

Which character – as performed by Nick J. Russo – was your favorite?

All of them? No, for real, that would be a tough call. Each character was given a unique voice, each scene and setting was alive before my eyes.

But okay, I guess it was dad again. What can I say, I love to laugh. ;)

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I almost did. Two sittings was all it took. It was easy listening and I enjoyed the situation and group of characters.

Any additional comments?

This is book three in the series, but it easily works standalone or out of order.

I received my copy of the book from Riptide Publishing in exchange of an honest review.

A refreshing love story

Nash is a big family man. He has a twin that went to college, His sister is paraplegic so he stayed home to help his dad with her. She is now 16 and wants her independence. With Wolf's Landing filming in town, there has been lots of actors and other people. Though his business has picked up sometimes he just needs to get on his motor-bike and let loose. It's one of these nights he meets Spencer broken down on the side of the rode.

Spencer is one of the bad guys on Wolf's Landing and though not a regular he is very popular. He is alo in the Limelight over the breakup of his marriage to his long-time life partner Peter who got one of the leading actresses pregnant.

The story has a couple plot lines. Nash's family issues, Spencer's personal life and the budding romance between Spencer and Nash. What I liked most was that Spencer never denied his love fr Peter, and he and Nash moved slow in a real relationship...yes they may have had sex but they were more friends wth benefits.

Nick J Russo is one of my favorite narrators. he has a smooth voice and i loved his British accent of Spencer in this story. I also love his inflictions in the sex scenes and the cute singing and poetry.

If you like actors, mechanics, devotion, a family man, characters with disability, friends to lovers, and a sweet romance with moderate heat levels, this is for you.
It is book three in a series though it works fine as a stand alone

Love Nick J Russo! Sweet story

I wished that there’d been a bit more groveling at the end and a bit more convincing done to Nash to give up his entire life to be Spencer’s boyfriend. It went so easily and fast! I was glad to see that Nash knew himself well enough to realize that the lifestyle suited him and didn’t let his ego get in the way, but I wanted Spencer to appreciate Nash more.

I think that Healy needs his own story next – so – here’s hoping!

Audio

I just plain love Nick J Russo. I know anytime he narrated I’ll like it. I even got a book I knew I wouldn’t like (not this one!) because he narrated it and it made it entertaining if not excellent ;) He does a fine job with the British and other accents here and as always makes the story really feel like you’re part of it’s telling.

I highly recommend this as the best way to experience this story.

Terrible narration maims decent story

I'm astonished for all the praise of the narration in the reviews of this book. Not only does he mispronounce many common words and place the emphasis on the wrong parts of sentences, he also mixes up the character voices. That may have been OK if he could do accents. He can't. Three of the characters, including the one of the main ones, have foreign accents and he mangles every one of them. It is incredibly distracting and by the end had ruined what I think would otherwise have been four star audiobook.
