This short story by Delta Oliver is an imaginative tale that takes you back to the days leading up to the devastating Galveston hurricane of 1900. Tapping into Galveston lore and the legend of Jean Lafitte, this story follows one young man through his run in with the supernatural, omens, and madness.
This short qualifies as, what Delta calls, a "novel nugget". What is a "novel nugget" you might ask?
Simply put, a "novel nugget" is a complete story written in a way that you can finish it in just a few minutes time.
Nowadays, life is busy and complicated. There are jobs with long hours, kids needing extra help in homework, dishes to do, and laundry to fold. When is there time to sit down and actually listen?
That is where "novel nuggets" come in to help.
These stories can easily be finished while waiting for that last load of laundry to finish drying, in the school pickup lane, or even hiding in the bathroom while eating that hidden bag of candy you stashed in there earlier that day. They are short, quick adventures into another life or world that give you the escape you need in the time you have.
