Publisher's summary

Dear Lady Truelove,

My ward is driving me crazy. I have to marry her off and get her out of my life. There’s just one problem....

When Jonathan Deverill promised a dying friend he’d be guardian to the man’s daughter, he envisioned a girl in pigtails and pinafores, a child he could leave behind in some finishing school. Problem is, his ward is actually a fully-grown, defiant beauty whose longing for romance threatens to make his guardianship a living hell.

New York heiress Marjorie McGann wants a London season and a titled husband who can help her spend the Yankee millions she’s inherited, and she thinks her new British guardian is the perfect person to help her find him. But Jonathan has no intention of letting his friend’s fortune be squandered. Under his watchful, protective eye, Marjorie finds romance hard to come by...until one fateful night when her own guardian’s devastating kisses makes her wonder if the greatest romance of all might be right in front of her.

Not my favorite but still ok

This started out good and I enjoyed the characters and the progression of the story. And then it got redundant and monotonous. Marjories constant whining (maybe this is Justine Eyres responsibility?) really started to grate on my nerves. Also, for Jonathan to one day be a guardian, attracted to his annoying ward, but still a guardian, and then the next day madly in love just really came out of nowhere! There was not enough character development in that regard.it wasn't an awful story, just one that could have benefited from a little refinement.

Justice eyre isn't my favorite narrator, but also not one that'd actively avoid. She was consistent to my previous experiences with listening to her.

I got this in a 2 for I sale and feel it was worth it. I would still read the other 2 in this series that I haven't read. ( I'm not reading in order)

Absolutely delightful!

I really enjoyed Jonathan and Marjorie's story--totally worth the long wait we had while he dithered around in America and his sisters ran the paper without him ;) Jonathan's early misconceptions about who his ward was made for some LOL moments, as did all the ways he and Marjorie butted heads in the beginning and beyond. Though I did think he realized that he was in love a bit too quickly and easily, I should have known that Marjorie was going to make him work for it and not been worried.

Make him work for it she did--and it was glorious!

Though this is the 4th book in the Dear Lady Truelove series, it really could be read as a standalone. Marjorie doesn't know the other series characters at all, and even Jonathan hasn't seen them in ten years, so readers can get caught up at the same time as the characters, if needed. Narrator Justine Eyre did a wonderful job, as always!

(The Deverill siblings have finally all gotten their HEAs--yay! but does this mean the series is over? :( My only consolation is being able to look forward to what Laura Lee Guhrke will write next...)

Very well written and narrated

I loved that Marjorie was a stubborn American woman and poor Jonathan didn't stand a chance! I loved how their love developed and had many a chuckle when Marjorie gave Jonathan a run for his money. LOL I highly recommend listening to this refreshing love story.

Slow, aimless

Listened to the whole series and this one felt very slapped together with discards from the others. It sounded like there might be some adventure, but it didn't seem to go anywhere. I was looking for some of the pizzazz and banter from the first one in particular in this series, but overall disappointed I'm sorry to say.

Needed more relationship development

Needed more relationship development
Too much filler...not enough time spent developing the relationship between the characters. All the books in the series are basically the same exact outline...just slightly different characters and slightly different circumstances.

That being said...they are a mindless easy listen and pleasant..just not one you will remember for all time.

I gave each book the same review... because as I said earlier they are all so similar and have the same issues.

Each book would have been much better if the relationship was the focal point of story development. Seems each book had the H & H spending 70% of their time with other characters doing other things. It just felt like the relationships were forced to work....not allowed to grow naturally.

3 out of 5...

Daddy Issues Abound

I’m not the biggest fan of stories that use an absent/horrible father as a crutch for one character’s motivations, let alone two. The majority of the story is spent dancing around the daddy issues that the main characters have, and the actual romance feels a bit rushed. While there were some charming moments, it was all an all an average story.

A Beautiful Love Story

I was hooked as soon as it started. It was a beautifully written love story that had me swooning, laughing , and biting my nails to hear what was going to happen next. The story described and had me feeling I was there watching like a movie.

Couldn’t finish.

Annoying spoiled brat heroine. Terrible narration.
I’ve got to remember to listen to the sample audio before I hit the purchase button.
