About this listen

Stephen Fry brings the richness of these magical stories to life in the original British recordings, available for the first time in the United States and Canada.

'Give me Harry Potter,' said Voldemort's voice, 'and none shall be harmed. Give me Harry Potter, and I shall leave the school untouched. Give me Harry Potter, and you will be rewarded.'

Treat your ears to a performance so rich and captivating you'll imagine yourself in the halls of Hogwarts. Wherever you listen, the unmistakable voice of Stephen Fry is guaranteed to guide you ever more deeply into this magical story and transport you to the heart of the adventure.

As he climbs into the sidecar of Hagrid's motorbike and takes to the skies, leaving Privet Drive for the last time, Harry Potter knows that Lord Voldemort and the Death Eaters are not far behind. The protective charm that has kept Harry safe until now is broken, but he cannot keep hiding. The Dark Lord is breathing fear into everything Harry loves, and to stop him Harry will have to find and destroy the remaining Horcruxes. The final battle must begin - Harry must stand and face his enemy...

Theme music composed by James Hannigan.

Having become classics of our time, the Harry Potter stories never fail to bring comfort and escapism. With their message of hope, belonging and the enduring power of truth and love, the story of the Boy Who Lived continues to delight generations of new listeners.

The epilogue was just amazing & a beautiful way to end the series.

LOVED IT ALL & cannot wait to read the Fantastic Beasts series; plus everything else Potter-Verse related.

Mr. Stephen Fry’s BEST Reading out of all 7 Harry Potter Books

Stephen Fry’s performance as the narrator in the Deathly Hallows, the seventh and final book in J. K. Rowling’s beloved Harry Potter Books, was his best. This Book 7 of the 7 Harry Potter Books was Mr. Fry’s LAST CHANCE, and his performance was truly outstanding. The emotional expression, his conveyance of the the character and plot development, were SO MUCH BETTER than Mr. Fry delivered in his readings of books 1-4.

Nice change from Jim Dale

I have all harry potter audiobooks from Jim Dale and enjoyed them immensely but then it piqued my interest to compare it to Stephen Fry. Since deathly hallows is my favorite book i decided to get this one and Fry did not disappoint. Even though he doesn’t make unique voices like Jim he was really good in building suspense and 30hr plus went by. Im having a crazy urge to get the whole collection again in Fry’s narrative but my obsession gotta ends somewhat lol

My Favorite Narrator

You can’t go wrong with Stephen Fry. I love his performance so much. He really gets into the characters to change their voices and it’s that much more immersive. I’m so happy he’s on audible now.
The epic ending to an incredible journey into the Wizarding World.

Stephen Fry reads Harry Potter

Finally we have this audio version in the United States. Stephen Fry IS the voice of Harry Potter (and Dumbledore, Hermione, Hagrid, McGonagal, Dobby, Griphook, Lupin, and, well, just everyone).

The history of the Fry/Rowling collaboration is an interesting one. I remember when the books were still being written. Before publication (on Harry’s birthday, every July), Fry recorded the books and was sworn to secrecy about the content.

One discussion between the two centered on Hagrid. Fry put his accent as West Country, an instinctive choice. Rowling said it was spot-on.

This is the audio version you want. Absolutely hands down the best.

(And never mind the introductory and ending music that Audible has put in. It only lasts seconds. You can tough it out. You can even endure the sales pitch for another book and the woman’s pronunciation of the main antagonist as VOLDEMORE. You can get through this because Fry is worth it.)

what's not to like?

It is Rowling and Fry. What's not to like. One of the beauties of this series is it gives the reader/listenee a feel for the life cycles of the characters. it does that like a first rate Eulogy.
