About this listen

Harlem is a beautiful, smart, and funny 17-year-old. She lives in the projects with her drug-addicted parents. They are so far gone that Harlem must fend for herself and at times do a little hustling of her own to feed their habit.

As if things can’t get worse, Harlem’s world is turned upside down when her mother dies from a drug overdose and her father pulls the ultimate betrayal by prostituting her. Harlem is pushed into an adult world and into the hands of a crime and drug lord named Chief, who gives Harlem every luxury she has ever dreamed of, and more pain and suffering than she can stand.

Things unfold when an old crush named Savior and the crime lord Stuckey show up. A war over turf is waged between Stuckey and Chief. Harlem finds herself in the middle, leaving her to once again depend on the strength she has inside to find a way out.

Harlem on Lock is a story of love, revenge, and redemption.

From hell to paradise

This book was very good .The narrator was on point.I only stop listening when I slept. This little girl with both parents strung out on heroine .Her father was a low down dirty dog.He hurt his daughter. after her mom died which was his wife overdosed. She went through a lot of things even after running away from her dad.She ran into a snake. This story kept u wanting more.I truly enjoyed it.

Loved it , and the narrator was awesome . The story was deep!!
It was horrible what Manhattan had to indure I'm just glad in the end she was able to better herself and not end up in the nut house or dead....

Enjoyed!

Poor Harlem, she went through so much in her life. I thought that I had it hard. But she came out stronger. The story was great just the ending was really too unrealistic. But overall the story wax good.

I could see every scene as I listened

I won't say I loved this story ..ill say this story needed to be told and that it was told very well
no one loves to hear a story such as this ..im sure it triggered some yet I'm as sure that it gave hope to many..
we as women (idc your shade or class..your age , size or hair) are constantly seen as objects to some degree.. although my story is as horrible as the things Harlem went through I still felt alone , weak minded and as though there was no way out ..
but baby once I found my way out !
this book was one i couldn't put down until it was done

Unexpected

This book was great. The title sent me into other thinking. The twist was a good one. Just because you are from the projects, you can still have big dreams and make them come true.

Great Read

the only thing I will say is that I did not like how dinky the author made Harlem I do not believe that any person could be that naive it was like as soon as she get to the point where she's out or could be out she chooses to stay or when someone tells her to do something that is actually to help her she does quite the opposite I have never
