About this listen

The smallest of creatures often carry the sharpest of stings. Lydia Chapman is just such a vampire. Her small stature hides a mighty wit, a razor-edged tongue, and an implacable protector of the only natural-born vampire in existence. Here is the back story of the snarkiest hero on Team Gordon/Demidova, told in her own words, just for fans of the Demon Accords. Go ahead and underestimate her ... it'll be fun.

Narration was poor

As always John Conroe's book was excellent. The narration was poor all around. I cannot think of anything about it that was passable. Definitely worth reading and if rereleased with the usual narrator it would be worth buying but with this reader it is not worth it.

A little disappointed.

I've read this entire series numerous times. JC is one of the best writers of this century. I've read everything i could find that he's written.
That being said, I was disappointed in this one.
The author seemed...distracted? it felt more like a rough draft instead of a finished product.
I wasn't crazy about the back and forth manner it was written in. There wasn't enough details of the past.
And I really disliked the narrator. She just didn't seem invested.
And, lastly, the editing slipped several times.
However, the series is superb, so 4 stars.

LIDYA

Another great book in a fantastic series!
I loved hearing Lydia's story. Has there been a description of her looks besides her being tiny and blond? I keep wondering how tiny, is she like 4'10" or 5'3", when you are short it is a big difference!!
At times the back and forth between past and present was a touch confusing, there was no chapter header that denoted past vs present.
Otherwise, another great easy read! I hope there is another book out soon!!!
Worth the credit/money!!

Audible when will you learn.

I wonder what's going through Mike Charzick's brain when he thinks about people who are going to narrate these books. This book contains all of the major characters from the series, and thus should have been narrated by James Patrick Cronin. The book itself was decent. I'm getting a little fed up with these flashback books and the little bit of nuggets that they're giving us for the current story. But I'm assuming the next major book is the last book. So I understand. If you love the series, you're going to love this book. I'm just hacked off that they didn't get the narrator I like.

Great story, Mid Narration

Story was good. The bouncing in time thing back and forth is kinda annoying. Especially since the narrator makes it hard to differentiate the characters.

Where is James Patrick Cronin?

I love this series but this narrator was a disappointment. I had trouble distinguishing characters and her Omega voice was painful to hear. Plus, after so many books narrated by Cronin, it throws off the rhythm and ultimately the enjoyment of the book. I’m only halfway through but am having trouble getting excited about having to endure the rest of the story. Maybe will just buy the book and do the voices in my head.

A great addition to a great series

John Conroe has done it again. A great story that not only builds the history of Lydia but moves the core story forward. Not only do we get to see how Lydia became a vampire but how she joins the Demidova corporation. While exploring her history he masterfully advances the main story line and leaves us wanting more!
