About this listen

Celebrity chef Maxwell Cavanaugh is known for many things: his multiple Michelin stars, his top-rated Culinary Channel show To the Max, and most of all his horrible temper. Hadley Beckett, host of the Culinary Channel's other top-rated show, At Home with Hadley, is beloved for her Southern charm and for making her viewers feel like family.

When Max experiences a very public temper tantrum, he's sent packing to get his life in order. When he returns, career in shambles, his only chance to get back on TV and in the public's good graces is to work alongside Hadley.

As these polar-opposite celeb chefs begin to peel away the layers of public persona and reputation, they will not only discover the key ingredients for getting along, but also learn the secret recipe for unexpected forgiveness...and maybe even love. In the meantime, hide the knives.

Fan-favorite Bethany Turner serves up a heaping helping of humor and romance with this thoroughly modern story centered on cooking, enemies, and second chances.

Hilarious. Wholesome. Happy ending. Perfect romcom!

I have come to love everything Bethany Turner!
This is my third of her books and I’ve so enjoyed each one. All of her books are clean- no bad language, no raunchy sex scenes- no content that i have to try and frantically mute when my kids walk into the room. AND- i love thé values her characters tend to have! I am so VERY thankful for an author who keeps her characters respectful, modest… not swept away in the ever changing culture trends. 🙌🏻🙌🏻

This one had me laughing out loud and constantly smiling. The dialogue between the MC’s was witty and hilarious. The characters were well developed and so easy to love and connect with- each with their own strong backstory which helps illustrate what draws them together.

And the narrator- i will be searching her books. Superb narration. She acts it out as she reads! The sighs, laughs, coughs- she does it all and so well! She was fantastically entertaining, easy to listen to, and made me feel like i was listening to the actual characters (who, again, i loved so much)

A sweet and fun story of two imperfect people

I loved this story as the baggage of two highly gifted and imperfect people's lives collide. Thought provoking, yet light hearted and fun, too.

Sweet Love Story

I thoroughly enjoyed this story. Just enough twists to keep you guessing, but sweet and redemptive all throughout. ♥️

More than Cooking!

I really enjoyed the fun cooking show aspects of this book but it was the enemies to love story that had me hooked!
I disliked smarmy manager Leo from his introduction, you will too.
The not always certain trust that develops between Hadley and Max was fun to see blossom.
Narration by Aimee Lily was very well done!

Thoroughly Enjoyable and Funny!

I learned of this author through a Facebook group of like-minded readers and I'm so glad I tried her books. Bethany Turner has such a witty way with words and writes fun, likable characters. The story-line isn't too deep but keeps you rooting for the heroine and her love interest all the way through. The narrator does a great job with the voices and actually manages the "chuckle in character" that is particularly hard to carry off without sounding forced or fake. I will look for other books by this author and most likely the narrator as well.

Enjoyable but Predictable

I usually find Bethany Turner’s stories to be quite entertaining. This one held no surprises and brought nothing new to the genre.
Great reader though!
Still better than 90% of the (generally awful) romcoms out there because Turner can actually write.

Wow can’t even get through the prologue

Ugh the voice of this narrator is the worst! I cannot even get through the prologue…hey I’m southern and this does sound like an authentic southern voice but it’s incredibly grating!
I love this author but just can’t listen, will have to just read it.

Unbearable

Did not finish. Unlikable characters, boring plot, couldn’t be bother to listen beyond 50%. Do not recommend.
