About this listen

Roswell. Area 51. The X-Files.

You've seen the aliens known as "the Greys" in movies and on TV. But what if everything you think you know about them is wrong?

And what if the Greys are only the beginning?

On a nondescript planet on the far side of the galaxy, the M'Uktah have evolved from a wolf-like predatory creature into a highly advanced species that has mastered intergalactic travel. They are cultured. Refined.

And hungry.

Erika Holt dodged death and departed Earth in an alien ship. It wasn't how she'd planned to spend her senior year. Is she on her way to paradise? Or to a hell worse than the underground lab she escaped?

The greys rescued Tex from A.H.D.N.A. and have promised him a life he could never have imagined. But what will he have to give up to become one with the Conexus?

Jack Wilson is still Commander Sturgis' prisoner but a promise of freedom comes from an unlikely source. Will his liberation cost more than he's willing to pay?

Commander Sturgis has the vindication she craved and the alien war she prepared for. But while she cleans up the mess the aliens left behind, The Makers have other plans for Sturgis and her prized creation, Alecto.

Caught up in their personal battles, will any of them realize the threat that looms over us all before it's too late?

Dylan White shows us how it's done by his performance of Natalie Wright's book "H.A.L.F."

“This audiobook was given by the author, narrator, or publisher at no cost in exchange for an unbiased review."
The country experiences change , expressed thru characters I can relate to. The alien and time warps bring a sense of fantasy that is held in check by our believable characters. Overall one great series you can truly enjoy, I did.

The story progresses for a good YA Scifi series.

First I want to thank Natalie Wright for providing me with a review copy of this book. If you liked book one then you will enjoy book 2. While I liked the narrator of the first book better, Dilan was a good reader. The story progresses nicely and it is a very good part 2. To be clear this is not a stand alone book and it should not be read unless you are planning on picking up the first and last books in the series as well, but it is well worth your time and credits. This story takes things in a different direction than I expected which always makes for a more interesting book. Throughout the series you continue to see how the choices that the character make change them and affect their future choices. Solid YA Scifi book.

I like the story...

The story picks up where the last left off with Erika & her best friend in an alien ship along with Tex and the Doc. Unfortunately things aren’t as Tex had hoped for. Jack makes a deal to save his life all while hoping to meet up with Erika again someday. The listener is taken on a roller coaster ride of unfortunate situations all while being entertained. The story is well crafted and the characters are likable. My only gripe is the narration. I liked Mr. White’s voice but the quality of the recording was less than acceptable. There are parts where his “s”’s make the speakers screech because he’s to close to the mic and other areas where I had to keep turning up my car stereo because it sounded like his voice was fading. It’s not my phone or car stereo because the next Book didn’t have any problems.

So creative

I'm really enjoying this series and this book kept me hooked. There were several twists that seemed to come out of no where and I loved how unpredictable it was.

The complexity of the first book is continued in this one, it's not hard to follow, it just shows that a lot of planning has gone into this series.

I can't wait to know what is going to happen next so book 3 is the next book I'm listening to.

The narration is great, the character voices are really well done and the delivery is dynamic and engaging.

Very entertaining and enjoyable

Any additional comments?

Very entertaining, engaging and enjoyable. Great follow up to the first book. I enjoyed this book more than the first installment. This book picks up exactly where the first book stopped. I don't consider this a stand alone story. To really get the full story and background you need to listen to the first book before starting this one. Is the series worth your time? Yes, definitely.

Was not expecting the turn the story took. It made sense though in an unusual and creative way. Thoroughly enjoyed it. It's amazing how your perceptions of a character can change throughout the coarse of a story. Really looking forward to the next installment. Curious to see where the author takes the story from here. Great cast of characters. Interesting world the author has created. Can't say more that, I don't want to spoil the story.

Dylan White did a great job with the narration. This is the first time I have listened to a book he has narrated. He's a natural. Pleasant voice. Clearly spoken. Great character voices. His narration made the characters come to life. Very enjoyable.

Read book 1 first but awesome (tho hard to follow)

I'm going to have to go back & read the first one. I'm loving it so far but I feel like I'm missing allot of the back story. It's written from the point of view of numerous people. I don't understand "the taking" so ..............it's definitely worth getting the first one to get up to speed! Love the narrator! given free for honest review

Things may not be brighter on the other side...

What does Dylan White bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Dylan White is a new voice for me. He does well with different voice tones and personality to share the feel of the characters as they speak. I did find that the volume, in which the recording was done, was very quiet. I had to turn this book up louder than many of my other audio books to hear all the words that were spoken. But I enjoyed the story that Dylan voiced for us.

Any additional comments?

We start exactly where the first book ends. Our characters moving on with the unknown that's about to happen to them.

POV is through a few different eyes: Erika, Commander Sturgis, Jack, Tex, and U'Vol. All are at different places and witnessing or experiencing different things in the world. Erika is taken with Ian, Dr. Randell, and Tex by the aliens. However, Tex is separated from them. Jack was rejected in the taking, and is left on land with Commander Lillian Sturgis, but Commander Sturgis is arrested and none know Jack is there. U'Vol is a new character for us, an alien of a different world. I have a feeling U'Vol will become more important in the next book, especially after the last chapter with him in this book.

Each character has an important rule to play in this book. Erika sees the side of what's being done to her and her friends and works to escape where they are. Tex is wanted by the aliens, Conexus, because of how he was created and could help them. He also gives us the view of what's happened and what the Conexus is and wants. Commander Sturgis only has a few sections, but she knows there is trouble coming and will do anything to protect the world, and her knowledge is needed. Jack is on Earth and working with new characters to save the one person he didn't think he'd ever want to see again, then to save the world. Then there is U'Vol. I won't say much of him as he's new and an interesting view into things to happen.

Where I felt the first book was similar to many alien stories, this one was more impressive. Sure there are some spots that are common, but the story here feels to move to a new level. There are interesting connections between where Erika, Ian, Dr. Randell, and Tex go to with the aliens and where we've been. Very interesting!

I can see small sparks of love starting through the story. The couple we originally thought would be together, could grow to learn they love others, finding the one that may fit. Or maybe not. I'm not sure how the love angle will work out in this series. They are still young after all.

The writing felt to ring home much better with me in this book. I really like the description as the story starts in Erika's POV. Wow. Well done. I feel this book has more emotion and depth to the characters than the first story. Living through these hard times and fighting to live and return home or save others has brought them all to a new level. This book felt more invested and better written to me.

The ending concludes the troubles the characters are in with this book. But, it doesn't bring us completely to an end and there are new complications to face. We will be waiting for book three to see where we end up and what happens next!

Great twists and turns

This story goes in some directions I never saw coming. I love all of the characters and I’ve already started book 3. The war that is coming will be epic. The virus released is all too close to home with the corona virus going on in the country at this very moment.
Dylan did a great job narrating but I usually hate it when a narrator changes mid story. The sound quality was excellent but I found that I had to turn the volume up twice as loud as usual in my car and while listening on my phone using the speaker or headphones.

Mixed Bag

Natalie Wright welcomes us back into a world where we are not the only ones out there in the universe and, in fact, those "others" want to infect or kill humanity. Jumping right into where Book 1 left off, readers are forced to piece together the main plot as each chapter focuses on a different character's situation. It can get a little confusing at times and made the story had to follow but each character's story line eventually sync and the book ends with a great cliff hanger.

Narrator Dylan White did a fine job with taking on a book 2 in a series. His variation in character voices were great and enjoyable to listen to, but to me, his narrator voice sounded forced and almost always ended on the downbeat, sounding like the narration for action movie trailer. I find this amusing as the narrator for book 1 had the opposite problem. Put them together and it would have been perfect.

Overall, still a bit over the top of a plot but stayed true to the series as a whole. I'd recommend this to fans of young adult Sci-fiction.
