As Carl sat astride his roan gelding and stared at Pine Bluffs, he knew that his days of punching cattle were over. The long drives across the West were dying now that the railroads had crisscrossed the Plains. Ironically, his last formal education had given him the skills and knowledge to help build those railroads, and now he’d finally put them to use. His short-term plan of spending a quiet night or two in Pine Bluffs would soon be altered by a simmering man-made volcano in the mountains of central Wyoming at a mine that provided the coal for the railroad’s locomotives.

Heartwarming!
I started listening to C J Petit a couple months ago with the Joe Beck series. I’m very happy with the stories and the narration! Plan to download more!

WESTERN GENRE AT ITS BEST!
Very, very enjoyable. It was well written with an intriguing beginning, interesting middle and a very satisfying ending. I place C. J. Petit in the same company as the Johnstone’s in the Western genre.

Gus
This book starts out with Gus loosing his job at the ranch he's working at. He moves on and takes a job with an older couple that doesn't have much money. There Jewish and a lot of people in town doesn't like Jews. Gus helps them fight the town and other ranchers. This storyline is written excellent. It held my attention all day. Gus goes through a lot trying to do the right thing. Good things comes to those that does good. There is a lot of action in this book and romance. I feel like this book was worth a credit or money. ridiculous
what a silly, stupid premise for a book, a Saint gus cowboy giving to all, destroying the wicked. the reader was hard to listen too with that phony voice.
