Guided imagery is a safe, effective mind-body technique that consists of healing words and hypnotic images, set to soothing music, to provide help to survivors of traumatic events. Repeated listening once or twice a day for two to three weeks ensures maximum impact.

Written and narrated by noted PTSD expert and guided imagery pioneer Belleruth Naparstek and scored to the exquisite, immersive music of Steven Mark Kohn, this Health Journeys™ guided imagery CD set for PTSD was produced by the Cleveland Orchestra's sound engineer, Bruce Gigax.

For the first phase, when a sense of safety and control needs to be reestablished, the program offers three guided meditations for PTSD in order to install powerful self-soothing skills to use when triggered by flashbacks, nightmares or intrusive thoughts: Imagery for Protection & Support, a Walking Meditation and Imagery for Restful Sleep. For some, this phase alone is enough to dramatically reduce symptoms.

For the second phase of deeper healing and integration, there are three powerful, targeted guided meditations for PTSD: Imagery to Ease Depression, Imagery to Release Grief and Imagery to Heal Trauma. And Stage 3, Clean-up & Renewal, offers Imagery for Confidence, Imagery for Anger & Forgiveness and Affirmations for PTSD. Some of the segments overlap with the imagery in our Trauma Pack, but there is much greater variety here.

These guided meditation CDs and MP3 downloads for PTSD were proven effective in several studies with sufferers of persistent trauma—combat trauma and sexual trauma—who were in need of quick and effective PTSD treatment. This guided imagery for healing trauma was made with the help of trauma experts as well as sufferers of posttraumatic stress: combat veterans, survivors of motor vehicle accidents, criminal assault, domestic violence, traumatic grief, bombings, natural disasters, ICU stays and childhood sexual abuse, as well as those who witness, document and clean up after traumatic events—first responders, journalists, photographers, therapists and bystanders.

The hypnotic, healing suggestions go very deep, and are designed to counter ugly flashbacks and nightmares with positive images. Additional segments reduce the intense spikes of anxiety and serve as treatment for panic attacks, along with anger and fury; others shift the tendency toward avoidance, numbness and isolation. Empowering and effective, this highly regarded guided meditation set for PTSD treatment increases self-esteem, confidence and sense of self-worth. The separate track of affirmations bolsters the PTSD treatment process with quick, positive reminders in a briefer format which listeners can hear while engaged in other activities, including driving.

Read some reviews and listen to some samples so you can see for yourself why this expertly built program of guided imagery for PTSD treatment is such a robust word-of-mouth favorite and recommended by psychotherapists nationwide, as well as distributed by the US military and Veterans Administration Kaiser Permanente, the American Red Cross and the Mayo Clinic. This set is a compilation of imagery exercises from Health Journeys™' audio library.

Deeply healing

I am so grateful to Naparstek for having the wisdom, love and will to write these guided meditations and affirmations. I have a most serious case of PTSD that has dominated my life. These tools ARE helping me heal. It's like salvation - - but not instant!! It is as she says - repeating, retraining, reconditioning ourselves. It takes time. It is a process -- OF COURSE ;) Life is a process. Thank you Bella Ruth.

Belleruth is phenomenal

In times of stress I find myself revisiting Belleruth’s guided imagery and affirmations. I find deep comfort with her style. The tone of the music and her voice repaginates with me. I listened and practiced almost all topics she has created.

Most helpful healing tool

Although I wish audible would have each chapter labeled, this has been one of the most profound healing tools for myself and my clients as we navigate our pasts and any forgotten or remembered points of trauma. I couldn’t recommend this highly enough! Beleruth is knowledgeable and tender in her creation and delivery

Best guided meditations for depression and trauma

Have given this album and others of Belleruth’s to numerous patients who are struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, or persistent pain. Music is low contrast and effective and scripts are well researched. Her voice is inductive in the best way of all recordings I searched through.
