About this listen

A Rain of Fire: The dark forces of the Neo Hegemony strike, sweeping across the worlds of the Arcadian sector and crushing all in their path.

One system stands against the onslaught: the Kingdom of New Avalon. But the men and women of their expeditionary forces are trapped behind enemy lines on a besieged planet. Losing those troops will lose the war. Their only hope? A last ditch rescue mission led by Captain Hal Cutter and his battleship, Achilles.

Titan's Vengeance: The Reach. A vast barren tract of space lying between the besieged stars of the Kingdom of New Avalon and their distant allies. And it is the latest battlefield in the war burning across the void.

Admiral Valin Sarven of the Hegemony fleet is as cunning as he is ruthless. A master tactician commanding the most powerful vessel in space, the battleship Behemoth. He is dispatched into the Reach with a single goal: to sever the long, tenuous supply lines linking the Kingdom to the Liberty Federation.

A Relentless Fury: One after another, the Kingdom's star bases have fallen before the New Hegemony and their coalition. Only one remains in the strategically vital Talos Rift: Valestra.

The story is ok, but it’s literally just WWII in space…the author even repurposed WC never surrender speech.

enjoyed the WWII references and the division between good and evil. Just enough difference that it held its own as an epic novel.

This was an enjoyable science fiction rendition of World War Two not only because it was a science fiction interpretation, but presented from a Commonwealth perspective.

Artfully Executed

I really liked how it was almost a retelling of the WW2 battle of Dunkirk. it reminds me of how Starfist series did this as well as Legion of the Dammed

Action packed

I love military sci-fi! This is a great example of this type of the style.

Great story I did not want to put down!

I don't know if I'm stating the obvious or not somewhere this has already been mentioned but if you know anything about world war II you know how this series ends. I still think it's a good rendition of world war II in space. lol

First book is retelling of battle of France and Dunkirk evacuation were expeditionary soldiers are trapped on besieged planet. Autor try to translate many real world facts into the book, like decision to stop armor advance to use air strikes and many other that any history nerd will discover. But for one it make whole plot predictable, and make all omitted facts more unbearable. Like war starts from attack on "France", always in those fictions August `39 is omitted. There are good "Germans" and bad "Nazis" and it would be comical if not knowing that they were the same when it comes to war crimes. And the cherry on top was how it was presented that small force form outside planet is able to crash all planetary resistance - they were using thermonuclear bombs on enemy concentrations. And not a word about why the other side was not using it back. I stopped listening one day after ending my workout and never started it again. It is not worth it even in box set.

At one point it was amusing to see the various perspectives of the characters, but then the larger story is almost of verbatim rehashing of events during world war II. At some point I realized that if I wanted a better story I would just listen to real history.
