About this listen

In this powerful, thought-provoking tale written by a young author who realistically relates the characters’ youthful voices and perspectives, a woman caught in an abusive relationship must find the strength to leave the only man whom she believes truly loves her.

Kenda Tyson has lived a pretty wonderful life. Her parents are lawyers who own their own firm, and they provide their 17-year-old daughter with only the finest. Kenda has come to expect that the men in her life will continue to offer her that same level of luxury, and when she meets the good-looking, smooth-talking Jerome Smith, she’s sure she’s hit the jackpot. Her perspective quickly changes, however, when she finds herself caught up in a whirlwind of love, lies, and abuse.

The first time she has to examine a bruise on her face, Kenda allows herself to believe that it was a mistake Jerome will never make again. Her friends try to convince Kenda that being with Jerome is not what’s best for her, but when she refuses to listen to them, they walk away, hoping that God will hear their prayers and protect Kenda’s life. When Kenda decides that her relationship with Jerome is more important than her friendships and her family, will she realize how much she is giving up before it’s too late?

Grace and Mercy

Story was about abuse and how basing love on how much a person is willing to give you, the heroine learn a hard lesson by thinking love was about a man buying her love. Heroine made bad choices even when God and her friends warned her about her boyfriend. Her parents were to busy putting there business first and there kids last. That why the daughter felt unloved and that how the boyfriend was able to take advantage of this girl. Overall the story was good. As Christian I don’t think that God would want us to put ourselves in harm way to be beaten by a man that has that in his character that part that part of the story seem unrealistic for her parents would let her go alone to the boyfriend house it seems they would of made her meet him somewhere in public rather than let her be alone with a man that already proven he was violent. No parent would never let their child risk there life that why I gave four star for the story.

Love this book

Had me on a roller coaster of emotions, but this definitely may be a sensitive plot for some but I love the outcome.

Good story and narrator

Kenda was very young and acted so. Roslyn input on abortion was annoying because kind your business. And Raymond was on my nerves

The truth about abuse

I love this story because everyone in it makes mistakes. The answers to abusive relationships aren’t as cut and dry as people make them seem. Family members and friends don’t know how to handle it if they’ve never seen it before and the abused doesn’t either. I loved this book!!

Decent

This was a decent read. I don't think I realized this was Christian fiction when I picked it up. Move plot and overall development.
