I quite enjoyed this story. My only criticism is that it should have been narrated by two woman. Kate Mara did.a fine job. But I could never understand who was speaking, mother or daughter. it was necessary to refer to the chapter’s title to determine who is speaking. The story was a bit slow in developing, but it did, and held my attention.

Two Characters One Voice

I actually like Kate Mara as a narrator since I dislike a lot of embellishment. She was in fact better than the story which held my interest but not a groundbreaking thriller.

Pretty good

Kept me engaged all throughout. Narrator was a wonderfully soothing juxtaposition to the theme. Right to the last page surprises. Love it

Excelent a must read

Difficult to follow as narration was always the same voice. Had to keep track of who was speaking, names and relations to other characters. Incredible story. Last 10 characters were the best.

Loved the story and complexity of the characters, would’ve preferred two separate voices for the characters as I frequently had to go back and see who was speaking.

One voice for narrator, great storyline

I liked the story and the narrators were good but it seemed slow at times. It took me awhile to finish this one.

I was so excited bc of these reviews. Normally I binge read a book, this took me weeks to finish. I finally went back after stopping about 60% through, the middle is just redundant & slow paced. I will say I’m glad I went back bc the last 2.5 hours were good! I’d rate the first 70% about a C & last 25% maybe a B+. Good book, I’d recommend it, but I wouldn’t say excellent at any point. B- overall. Narrators we’re pretty good but zero voice variation in the two characters.

I don’t understand these rave reviews - give it a B-

Whoa, that geneology would've made for another incredible story entirely. Still, this one was great! A slow burn throughout that held my attention to the very end. The subtle twists, character development, and ultimate reveal in the end were great!
