The Deeper Story

I really liked how this novelization really tied many events better than the movie, it really helps the reader dive deep into the monster-verse and understand more about it. The audiobook reader was outstanding and read it as it should have been read, outstanding!

fun insight to the titans

getting perspective from the titans is one of my favoeote part of the adaptions. and it follows the movie very well with some extra scenes to add a bit more to the story without changing anything

Was That Necessary?

GxK: TNE follows many of the same problems as its predecessor GvK. With the plot being filled with connivence after connivence, characters constantly just walking around waiting for the plot to drag them along through a series of things that really don’t make a lick of sense. Which is a shame since everything with Kong is so good—like wise Suko and Skar King’s moments. Greg Keyes does his best to make this absolutely nonsensical story work, and he accomplishes this for the most part. There are some changes that hold the book back from both of Keyes other novelizations. With that being said, the extended material is all serviceable; Godzilla’s and the surface story is much more fleshed out. And the sense of progression of time and geography is present than in the film. Overall, I would consider this book my least favorite of the “Keyes Trilogy” but still a good read for anyone loathing for more awesome Monster mayhem.

A decent follow up

I like this book more than the adaptations of Godzilla and Godzilla King of the Monsters. Godzilla vs Kong is still the best. I don’t like needing the books to flesh out the movie, but it’s needed just like the last one. I really would have preferred this was just a Kong story. Godzilla is an add on. I hope the next one will be Godzilla only.

Awesome!

Godzilla may have gotten his name in the title, but this is all Kong's story. This might be because Kong is the more sympathetic character, obviously lonely and searching through the Hollow Earth for more giant apes like him. Godzilla just goes around beating up the occasional titan. But Kong has some pretty amazing adventures as he seeks out his own kind, only to run into a terrible evil and the most powerful monster yet found on earth. You know that the situation has to be truly dire when King Kong goes running to Godzilla for help.

I haven't seen the movie, but as in the last book, there are some scenes that would really work great on the big screen such as Godzilla curling up in the Colosseum in Rome to take a nap, and Kong and Godzilla battling it out in Egypt by the great pyramids. Then of course there are the fabulous Hollow Earth scenes, the discovery of the ancestor species of the human tribe that Kong had protected on Skull Island, and a lot more monster fights. The epic showdown between all the monsters in Rio would be pretty awesome too.

I'm still impressed with Keyes' ability to make a novel about titanic monsters who don't speak so interesting and exciting, but he has pulled it off again.

A fantastic retelling of the movie with a lot of extra that genuinely adds a lot of depth to the plot. The stand out was Director Hampton who is now my favorite human character in the Monsterverse

Kong’s thoughts were not exaggerated. They were simple and basic. It made Kong seem more like an ape.

There wasn’t much in the book that I disliked. It was a very well put together story.
