About this listen

Loch Ness holds secrets, ancient and deadly. Does a monster inhabit its depths, or is it just myth? Why, after thousands of reported sightings and dozens of expeditions, is there still no hard evidence?

Marine biologist Zachary Wallace knows, but the shock of his near-drowning as a child on Loch Ness have buried all memories of the incident. Now, a near-death experience suffered while on expedition in the Sargasso Sea has caused these long-forgotten memories to resurface. Haunted by vivid night terrors, stricken by a sudden fear of the water, Zach finds he can no longer function as a scientist.

Unable to cope, his career all but over, he stumbles down a path of self-destruction...until he receives contact from his estranged father, a man he has not seen since his parents divorced and he left Scotland as a boy.

Angus Wallace, a wily Highlander who never worked an honest day in his life, is on trial for murdering his business partner. Only Zachary can prove his innocence, if he is innocent, but to do so means confronting the nightmare that nearly killed him 17 years earlier.

Incorporating the latest research and "new evidence", that leads to real answers concerning the monster's identity, best-selling author Steve Alten weaves a tale of horror about the most publicized and controversial creature ever to exist.

fantastic listen!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book! the authors attention to detail is superb and I absolutely love all of the historical information added throughout. The narrator does a really nice job of separating the different Scottish accents as well as bringing the characters to life through his story telling. I can't wait to listen to the sequel!

Nessie fights back

The loch is a fictional tale of Loch Ness, the Templars, Scottish history and cryptozoology that does for the loch what Jaws did for the ocean. A Scottish American marine biologist makes an amazing discovery in the Sargasso Sea but suffers a tragedy that will set home back and force him to relive old fears and memories. A visit from the highlands brings him back to the loch to face family, destiny and a legacy that will break him. Whether he can pick up the pieces in time to save the loch and his loved ones you will have to listen and find out. Amazing story. Enjoy

The Loch

This was a very good 'monster' book.Something is happening in Loch Ness.People are being eaten, eels are attacking, men in black cloaks roam the woods.A local man is on trial for murder for punching s man that fell into the loch,he says the monster took him.No one believes that. Narration by P.J. Ochlan was terrific.

Looking for a good creature featuring? Try this!

Loved every bit of it. Character development is fantastic. The protagonist's father has to be one of the best anti-heros ever!

Great Reader, Okay story

This book had a very strong start with a good main character who had problems to overcome, a mystery to solve, family drama to unravel, the law on their heels at all time, a cult trying to hide the monsters existence from the world, just great stuff.

But then it got weaker as the story progressed. What happened, Steve? You write amazing endings. The ending for Loch really sucks. Its way too slow and happy with no real weight on anyones decisions. Idk, definitely disapponting but still interested in Steves other books.

5 traumatized scottish children out of 10, just average.

Stay out of the Loch

An excellent story. Ancient folklore mixed with modern science for a suspenseful read, and listen.

Interesting statistics

I found the data used to write the book very interesting. It interested me enough
that I did a bit of research on the Internet of my own. I learned more about Scotland, Loch Ness, the Sargasso Sea, Conger Eels and the Loch Ness Monster. On the other hand, I found the fictional story surrounding the data to be trite and uninteresting. I didn't care about any of the characters. The narrator did a decent job of the Scottish Brogue, but having never been to Scotland, I might be completely wrong. His accents did get annoying and that might have something to do with the weak dialogue and character development. I completed the book because I found the format interesting, but I'm not sure how it ended since I really stopped listening.
