Great story and narration

Good stuff! I look forward to the next novels in this series. I hope they’re able to keep the narrator/voices. Good job everyone. :)

Can we get them all this way?

By far and away the best Light novel adaptation to a audiobook. After listening to several both single and duet narrations. I can say without hesitation this was done best and without the unnecessary screeching or "screaming" that occurs in most others when monsters are involved.

If you liked the anime, you'll like this!

Just as the title says. Some of the roughness of the story is still there; the kinda exploitative, why-are-breasts-being-mentioned-in-this-moment writing. But where the anime's first episode leered at its characters as they suffered extensively, the prose in the book itself is more restrained, leading to only a couple of phrases or lines that could have been refocused.

The majority of the prose is instead atmospheric, deliberate, and evocative, at least to my ear, and it is elevated even more by Hayden's smooth narration, Brad's rough Goblin Slayer, and Josh's excellent male voices.

If I had to write a one sentence summary, that'd be it. The fact that these are VAs from the English dub is definitely a bonus to any viewers who have seen it. Another reviewer has mentioned a moment or two of confusion with Hayden's female voices, which I think I had as well, but their tone overall just flows so well as the narration calls for it, that I'd have rated it pretty high just for that alone. Similarly, the contrast between the sound of the VAs gives the whole production a pleasantly distinct personality.

As the title said, if you liked the anime, you'll like this. I hope it sells well enough to continue on with this cast.

He Slays Goblins

Goblin Slayer is a fun, gritty, and memorable, if somewhat controversial, fantasy story. It is well performed with distinct character voices and clear narration. Personally, I like the references the author makes towards the world being an RPG campaign for the gods. The whole thing feels like someone’s game world come to life and I am here for it! If you can get past the first hour you’ll be in for a treat! However, if mentions of sexual assault seriously trouble you then proceed with caution.

This audiobook was surprisingly good and I’m looking forward to the next installment! The male and female reader had great chemistry and the character voices were enjoyable overall!

Voice actors

You gotta admire how they got the official English voice actors for goblin slayer and priestess to read their characters lines in this recording

Great dramatic version!

I've always been a fan of goblin slayer, reading the manga and eventually watching the anime when that came out, but never got around to reading the light novel. I was interested when a friend told me they were making an audiobook for it, and more so when i was told several of the official VA's from the anime where doing it. It's been a while since I've watched the Dub of the anime, but from what i can recall the voices match well. Goblin slayers voice may be more gruff and deep then in the anime, but it works well here.
Many of the females sound similar, and there are a few moments when it was hard to figure out who was speaking, mainly when Witch and Guild Girl were talking in the same scene, but Priestess and Elf Archer sound just like I remember, and of course the VA does a great job of carrying the emotion of the character during scenes, like when Priestess is anxious or when Elf Archer is bantering with Dwarf Shaman.
People coming straight from the anime may have issues if the voices don't match up perfectly, i know the feeling, but if it's been a while for you like it has for me then it's not an issue at all.

I can't find too many cons with this audiobook beyond the moments when i got lost, mistaking Witch for "which", and a few moments of similar sounding females. that and it being too short for my liking.
I personally can't wait until the next release and have high hopes moving forward with this series. I've always been into audiobooks, Harry Potter and Dresden Files being some of my favorites. This is my first anime light novel audiobook I've listened to and was not disappointed. I would recommend this to anime lovers and casual listeners alike.
