The male reader's voice was too laconic. For all characters. The female had accents down pat and was very good.

We finally meet the Farmers

This second book in the series has the colony continuing to prosper and they also finally meet the farmers. On an odd note Zynel seems to be the only one of his kind that is actively given a chance to show a different side of the Catteni. Aside from that the book is fairly even handed and well written.

2nd time around

I enjoyed this as much reduced 2nd time as well as the 1st. The narration is at least as good as anything other book on audible.

one of the best performances I've heard

Simply one of the best books I've heard since I got Audible. The performance of all the voice actors is astounding. I love the male/ female split of the characters. Above All That when the actors speak you can tell what character is speaking it's amazing.

FANTASTIC!!!!!

I love this series and the performance by the voice actors was great. It's a nice change from one voice actor trying to be all the characters. The casting was very well done. I really look forward to the next book. When I read the series again, I'll be hearing these choices as I read.

Exceptional! Anne McCaffrey Rocks!

This story shows how human beings can work together with others rather they are their own species or the other species. It always seems there’s at least one non-conformist in the group. Yet with perseverance we Humans will prevail. And that if we all work together we can have a better life. All lives matter! Anne’s books all reflect what drive, love and dedication the Human race is capable of! She has a huge heart and a brilliant mind. Read all her books! They’re some of the best reading materials I have found. I’m grateful to her for taking me on many adventures beautifully told!

You drop, you stay. I stay with the story.

McCaffrey does it again. She weaves such wonderful adventures and stories. I was let down by the two narrators. The first book is done with Susie Breck only. I was startled by Dick Hill and his inflections for the characters. I can understand with so many characters, it may have seemed that one person alone could do it justice. I prefer just one narrator.

top author, top narrator combo!

Always loved Anne McCaffrey and Dick Hill. Another legendary series by Anne, and I am SO THRILLED they decided to add Dick Hill's talents to beef up the narration; nothing serious against the original narrator, but adding Dick Hill was such a bonus to the delivery!!! Thanks a million!
