About this listen

A thrilling World War One spy story from the author of the acclaimed Jack Haldean series.

"There's a spy in England. Frankie's letter. Read Frankie's letter...." The last words said by a dying man to Anthony Brooke in Kiel in Germany during the height of World War One. But who is Frankie?< /p>

With his cover blown and the German army at his heels, English secret agent Anthony Brooke's search to discover the truth leads him to an innocent-seeming country house. Here, deep within the English countryside, as Anthony uncovers a web of spies, treachery and terrorists, the war becomes close and very personal.

A Fantastic Read

While the hero survives a remarkable number of attempts on his life, there still remains a certain believability to this book. It certainly holds your interest, and the narrator does an excellent job. This is the first book I've read by this author, and will look for others by her. I also appreciated the fact that there was minimal language and no sex scenes.

It was ok, kept my interest

This book was ok. I'm pretty picky so the fact that I listened all the way through is saying a lot. The narrator was good w/ the male voices. He did his best w/ the female voices but they were not his forte. Overall, nice excape-ism.

Frankie's letter disappoints

This hero should have been and deserved to be dead in his very first encounter with the enemy. The plot is simplistic, the involvement of the beautiful woman totally predictable and the ending mundane. There should be some level of believability which ceased to exist totally when the hero was shot three times and kicked in various parts of his body including his face on what seem to be successive days and no one noticed his injuries and he just carried on climbing trees and fighting bad guys. Any "spy" this inept would lady about a minute in a real war. Skip this one!
