About this listen

Forget Having Kids. I’m Having Fun is a book about making choices: choices about living life, and about giving life.

Through clever, intimate, and relatable personal anecdotes, author Dane Reid shares why he chooses a child-free life. His no-holds-barred, real-life, and sometimes exaggerated stories are equal parts edgy, racy, funny, and wise. Forget Having Kids pushes boundaries in its examination of such topics as: parental rights, corporal punishment, expectations vs reality of being a parent, and the high cost of raising children. This insight-filled book encourages positive self-care while challenging traditional ideas of the role a man plays in deciding whether or not to have children.

Forget Having Kids. I’m Having Fun is the perfect conversation starter for parents reflecting on their journey through parenthood, people considering having children, the childfree by choice community, or anyone intrigued by the possibility of a child-free life and the freedom that it can bring: basically everyone except kids.

Why the author should have had kids?

I truly enjoyed listening to this audiobook. It's a bit late for me to take the author's advice. Admittedly, even if I had read his book before the birth of my two children, I seriously doubt that I would have taken his advice. Despite the fact that I disagree with the author on the key point of the book (to not have kids), I still enjoyed it tremendously. Why? Because it’s the funniest audiobook I ever listened to. The author shared one anecdote after anecdote from his life about why he chose not to have kids. Nearly every sentence spoken by the author amused me. One of the best things about the book, is that it’s narrated by the author himself, a professional voice actor.

This is one of the few audiobooks I listened to that when it ended, I wished that it hadn’t. Whether you agree or disagree with the author’s point of view, I am sure you will enjoy this book and find it hilarious. If you are looking for a book that will entertain you, make you laugh and forget about the daily stress of life, then get this book now and listen to it. In closing, I will give one good reason why the author should have chosen to have kids: To perpetuate such talented DNA

The book you didn't know that you needed

A taboo convo no one really wants to have, but needs to have. It gives an unpopular perspective while remaining realistic and jovial. Great book!

I'm having fun too and now I know why.

This is an excellent book by Dane Reid, and I love the way he told his personal story. Thanks for sharing such an incredible and entertaining self written book with me as childless single man who enjoys mentoring children and sending them back to the people that created them.
