Publisher's summary

New York Times bestseller Jasmine Walt returns with the next installment in Of Dragons and Fae, perfect for fans of fantasy romance, action-packed adventure, and wild new worlds....

Adara and Einar thought all their problems would be solved when they defeated the corrupted King Aolis. But the power vacuum they have created is begging to be filled, and the three houses of Ediria are at each other's throats, trying to claim it. Worse, the threat from the shadow creatures is far from ended—an even more diabolical villain has risen in Aolis's place, and she will stop at nothing in her plot to throw Ediria into chaos and drown the kingdom in its own blood.

If Adara is to make things right, she must complete the coming-of-age ritual to unlock her powers so she can defeat the shadow creatures once and for all. But who can she rely on when everyone seeks to use her as a pawn in their nefarious games? Even Einar seems to have his own agenda, and when it comes to matters of the heart, no one can be trusted....

Amazeballs

Captivating story, and the narrators are superb! The author out did herself with the second part of the book, and the cliff hangers are what I live for.

Still hooked

I really enjoyed the continued world building and the secondary characters having a storyline. Wish there was a bit more action and a bit less politics but you can tell it's building towards an epic book 3!

Great story and cliffhanger

I’m completely sucked into this series. I’m rooting for Anar but I’m so devastated about the end of this book. Looking forward to book 3

Adara was tedious

The main character Adara was tedious throughout both books1 & 2. Her written personality & the voice acting were unpleasant. The narrator's voice for her was whimpering and constantly seemed on the verge of tears. It was incredibly unappealing. Hearing her say "it's all my fault" too many times to count made me cringe.

Honestly, I could have loved these books. But when the primary character is not likeable & seems whiny, it's not possible. I was even okay with Ainar's wishy washy feelings regarding Adara.

I had hopes that Adara would be better in the second book. That didn't happen. Overall, the story is beginning to drag...repeating itself. I'm sorry but I'm not sure that I care enough to get the final book. The illogical political infighting is tiresome. Our main characters also tend to go round & round in circles. Towards the end I was skipping a bit here & there...and yet didn't miss anything.

Both narrators did an excellent job...except for Adara's voice.
