What a delightful series!

I'm really enjoying both the writing and the performance of these books! Funny, honest, and clever portrayal of a mash up of "let's put on a show!" and "they like me! they really like me! ". Can't wait to start the next one!

Tim Federle Is the perfect narrator for his books!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

This is a great story of a boy who feels he doesn't fit in, and how he is able to find his true place. It is so enjoyable to go though Nate's experiences. His joys, his fears and his discoveries. It is a book many people can relate to about growing up and discovering one's self.

What other book might you compare Five, Six, Seven, Nate! to and why?

I would compare this to Wonder because both Auggie and Nate felt they didn't fit in with their school mates and peers. They were able to find their place and be celebrated for being their wonderful selves.

Which character – as performed by Tim Federle – was your favorite?

My favorite character is definitely Nate. He is so real. You are actually listening to Nate speak. The fact that the author is narrating makes you really hear Nate how is meant to be and it is so real. Hilarious at times, vulnerable at times, he makes you love him.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

A story of losing and finding yourself in the Big Apple.

Tim Federle is a hilarious narrator. I couldn't get enough of listening to him.

Gay love

Love the gay representation so sad. This is only gonna be the second book. I wish there this would go on forever until he wins his Tony and gets famous.

Pleasant surprise.

I wasn't familiar with Nate Foster when I bought this book. I was pleasantly surprised at how likable and and relatable Nate was. I enjoyed the story and the author's performance added to that, as well.

What other book might you compare Five, Six, Seven, Nate! to and why?

This book is pretty unique, but I might compare it to My Side of the Mountain (if you turned it inside out). Both main characters are boys with very particular ideas about how to live a happy life, both are surprisingly independent, and both appreciate their successes. So what if one is in the actual wilderness while the other is in a concrete jungle?

Which character – as performed by Tim Federle – was your favorite?

I loved them all, but if you're going to make me choose (why, Audible, why?!?) I pick Libby, because Federle just delivers her with perfect sass.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

You bet your freaking life. The last five chapters had me tied up in knots, because just about EVERYTHING happens to Nate. But not quite everything, which is better than everything.

Any additional comments?

This book and its predecessor are great middle grade/YA picks, driven by both plot and character in turns. Add to that Federle's talent as a narrator, and you have a very credit-worthy listening experience!
