About this listen

Mal and the crew take receipt of a sealed crate that they are being paid to transport to Badger, no questions asked. Yet once their cargo is safely stowed aboard, River insists Mal should "space" it out of the airlock, for it contains, she insists, ghosts.

With supplies running low, the crew desperately needs another payday but soon finds itself paralyzed by hallucinations of their deepest hopes and desires, so vivid they cannot be distinguished from reality. River is the only one unaffected. She desperately tries to awaken her crew mates, while the fantasies turn sour and the ship begins to spin out of control.

Like it for the new perspective it hives!

While well read, the plot isn't as good as others in this series. Still, it is Serenity and you do learn some past history that is invaluable, especially about Shepherd Book...

Loved it

The first three books are amazing I’m looking forward to the fourth. I had to go watch serenity after I finished this one. Really really enjoyed.

This was tough to get through

I normally love these books but this one was a tough listen.

I don’t recommend the cost.

Great Story

A little darker than the previous two novels, but very good nonetheless. Quite a bit of suspense.

Light on story

If you like the Firefly shows and other books you will like this, too but it reminded me of a tv episode where they do a lot of flashbacks. Basically there is not much to the current storyline, so a lot of time is taken with spin-off. The basic story is that the crew goes to pick up a stolen device for Badger. Mail
Gets a bad feeling & wants to leave it. Jayne smuggles it onboard anyway. The device sends everyone off into dream states and then River has to wake the crew up to save the ship & destroy the device. 2/3rds of the book was taken up with crew member dreams. So, interesting to see what each crew member really wants and dreams about, but there was little to the main storyline. Oh well. Fun to listen to anyway. The reading is good.

felt long wired, like filler material.

love the series and the story. But this one was hard to follow. it was like a flash back sean that didn't end. felt like a book just to fill time. Still getting the next one, just hope it's better the the first ones.

Just not what we needed

In a world that is in need of story telling and characters that are begging to be fleshed out we get dreams and wishes instead. I'm sorry, but this is not what I expected. I wanted additional adventures that would leave me wanting more.

The truly bright spot is the narration by James Foster is amazing. The nuances of each character are spot on.

I did REALLY enjoy the first 2 books by James Lovegrove. Let's see where Tim Lebbon takes us.

Great!

I felt like I was onboard Serinety herself. Story seemed a bit slow to start but that was just me getting reeled in. Well written and above excellent narration.
