About this listen

Celia Burrows thought she had it all - a handsome husband, two successful children, and a gorgeous beach house on the northern coast of Maine. But her perfect life cracks apart when her husband of 30 years informs her that he's leaving. In a note. And since problems come in threes, her adult children reveal they've both been struggling with issues of their own.

Before the separation, Celia was the main caretaker for her elderly father, but as her sisters step up to help in the wake of her troubles, neither of them takes to the role. Being tethered in Bluebird Bay is a nightmare for Anna, the youngest, whose passion for travel photography has taken her around the world. And Stephanie has struggled ever since her husband died in a freak boating accident a couple of years ago.

As Celia begins to come to terms with her own shocking loss, she's surprised to feel a giddy sense of freedom. For 30 years, she's buried her own dreams in support of her husband's vision. But that was the past. It's time to pick herself up, dust herself off, and create a better, more fulfilling tomorrow. Now, if only she can convince the people she loves to do the same....

The courage found by the sisters.

A delightful story of one family’s journey through the hard times. Their closeness as a family strengthening each other. I disliked that the mystery of one old schoolmate’s never being uncovered after leaving the reader curious??

Gentle, rich and inspiring

I looked forward to the end of each day so I could listen again. The story felt so gentle and yet delivered a punch to the gut with recognition. Time to question giving up oneself in the process of pleasing others.

Terrible Narrator

Will not continue the series due to Narrator. I generally listen to Audible books while I am doing work around the house or garden and her whispery voice is impossible to hear.

Great ending

It was too short but very much worth the read . That’s all I can think of to say.

Amazing performance/narrator

The story was easy to get invested in, with great descriptions of the main character’s feelings related to events the book was written about. The performer/narrator had to create and keep straight several different people’s voices which was so well done! So the combo of a good story and her performance made for a very gratifying read!

I'm invested now

Now that I've read the first book I'll have to listen to more so I can find out what happens to the other sisters.

If you grew up with sisters this book is for you

This book was perfect. There are ups and lows but in the end it’s family. I grew up with two sisters and I could see each of us in this story. They worked as a team and it worked

Wonderful story about ups and downs of relationships and the support of sisters through tough times.

Reader was not consistent with volume of voice. She was difficult to understand in performance of some of text, especially the male voices.
