NATIONAL BESTSELLER • An exiled princess teams up with the last man she thought she could trust in the start of a dazzling and unforgettable epic fantasy romance series.

As a child, Elowen Atarah was ripped away from her dragons and imprisoned by her father, King Garrick of Imirath. Years later, Elowen is now a woman determined to free her dragons. Having established a secret kingdom of her own called Aestilian, she’s ready to do what’s necessary to save her people and seek vengeance. Even if that means having to align herself with the Commander of Vareveth, Cayden Veles, the most feared and dangerous man in all the kingdoms of Ravaryn.

Cayden is ruthless, lethal, and secretive, promising to help Elowen if she will stand with him and all of Vareveth in the pending war against Imirath. Despite their contrasting motives, Elowen can’t ignore their undeniable attraction as they combine their efforts and plot to infiltrate the impenetrable castle of Imirath to steal back her dragons and seek revenge on their common enemy.

As the world tries to keep them apart, the pull between Elowen and Cayden becomes impossible to resist. Working together with their crew over clandestine schemes, the threat of war looms, making the imminent heist to free her dragons their most dangerous adventure yet. But for Elowen, her vengeance is a promise signed in blood, and she’ll stop at nothing to see that promise through.

An immersive fantasy filled with a sizzling reluctant-allies-to-lovers romance, a world to get lost in, dangerous quests, dragon bonds, and an entertaining band of characters to root for, Fear the Flames marks the stunning debut of Olivia Rose Darling.

a great debut!!

Ok, wow - I really enjoyed this one!!

A story surrounding a princess in hiding and an army commander who finds hers to enter into an agreement to help each other - save her dragons from captivity and take on her evil father in an upcoming war.

There was so much to enjoy about this!

🐉 a badass FMC who earned respect from her people and demanded it from others. She can also kick ass when needed!
🐉 a protective MMC who would do anything to support the FMC and is the definition of "touch her and die" vibes
🐉 great banter
🐉 found family
🐉 dragons
🐉 political intrigue

I can't believe this was a debut novel! I can't wait to see where the series goes from here!

Thank you to NetGalley and Random House Publishing for an e-ARC of this book - all opinions are my own!

Dragons, romance, plot, spice, and banter everything you could possibly want in a book!

The FMC is amazing, she is strong, fiesty but has a big heart and the best banter with the MMC who is also strong, and would burn the world for her with a hint of shadows. The book just starts off and right away you are pulled into this amazing story following Elowen as she fights to get her (5) soul bound dragons back. The banter and relationship between all of the characters will have you laughing and smiling all the way. It is an epic beginning to an adventurous and thrilling story. I’m so excited for book 2. Also the spice is just…. Chefs kiss.

Favorite read ever!!

There’s absolutely nothing bad I can say about this book. I was completely obsessed from the beginning. And the Banter, OMG unreal!!! The spice, can not get any better. All I have to say is Kaden, is not my #1 book boyfriend. You will not regret getting this book!!!

I have a new book bf

This book! I can’t believe is a debute novel. Absolutely fantastic. Gripping story! Addictive banter and actually well written smut. I wish I had the rest of the series to binge and can’t wait for the next one. So glad to finally have a book worth reading.

I absolutely loved it. It’s now one of my favorite reads. Slow burn, reluctant allies to lovers, amazing side characters. AND THE MMC IS EVERYTHING ❤️❤️❤️

Terrible Voice For Cayden!

I really enjoyed this book. I’m hoping that in the next book the author will explore the magic system more. I do wish she would have gone into more detail overall. I felt at times she skimmed over things and that readers were told about events afterwards vs experiencing them firsthand. More details more details! lol I can’t wait for next book! This series will definitely make my bookshelf so I can reread them.

I thought overall the narrator did a good job. The only voice that I felt like made no sense was Cayden’s voice. He sounded like a man and a frog combined. It was awful to listen to and I just don’t understand this choice of hers. None of the other male characters sounded like this and I’m not sure what she was going for but it failed miserably. Instead of sounding sexy he not only sounded like an old man but like he was half amphibian. Unfortunately I’m sure the author will continue with this narrator but I’m hoping the author will give her some constructive criticism. It was so bad that it almost ruined the listening experience for me and made it really diff to envision Cayden. I can’t wait for next book to come out! Hopefully with a new narrator.
