Acerca de esta escucha

Reaching civilization was not all that Graeme imagined it would be.

It was worse.

With his tribe freshly formed, and freshly Fateless, all he wants to do is prepare, research, and have a quiet drink or three before saving Angus, and in doing so, the world.

Ironically, Fate has other plans....

Ensnared by a corrupt magistrate and forced to fight for the entertainment of those who view themselves as civilized, the White Roses will have to either survive or succumb to the bloody gauntlet of the famous Frosthome Arena.

However, Graeme’s Awakening to Dreamer and his newfound mastery of Slumber may be just the key they need to triumph over the trials thrust upon them. Fortunately, such violence breeds opportunity. Allies, knowledge, magical items, and the promise of a cold pint can all be found here, should the tribe succeed.

Yet beyond this, shadows stir. A growing, necrotic sea that threatens to engulf the tribe and put an end to their plans almost as soon as they have formed. Whether they know it or not.

I loved the narration by Neil Hellegers! No one compares to his snarky system messages! I swear, he could make an ingredient list sound sarcastic. The story introduces some new characters and bounces back and forth as the fated day grows closer. I can’t wait to hear the next book!

So far great for the second book-more comes into the light as far as the rhyme and reason of this world and it’s fun to see the characters grow. Can’t wait for the next book!

Really enjoying

I was gifted this book by the author on a Facebook meme/gif challenge.
My sincerest apologies to the author for taking so much time to review the book. I lost it in my library when other books were added, and it went "out of sight, out of mind" until now.
If you liked the first book, you won't be disappointed with this one.
The story continues on with the minotaur MC with his friend the Kobold shaman, still looking for his friend from earth.
The story doesn't end here so expect a book 3.
Good story and narration with interesting characters and adventures.

Good 2nd book

This book flowed a lot better for me. The first book had some slavery stuff that I didn’t enjoy so it was nice to have some focus the game system, leveling up and the plot. I really enjoy the Minotaur experience. Having a time limit for completion helps apply some suspense and let’s me know this is not just another unending series. The narrator does a great job with his voices.

Solid sequel

This book was better than book 1 cause it doesn’t get confusing with 2 main characters at different times like in book one and focus’s on gram and party

The combination of the authors story and the narrators storytelling allows for the reader to whether the world and makes the reader fell like they are part of the white roses.

Amazing storytelling that creates a world that is enjoyable for the reader and sucks you in.

If you liked the first book. Don’t listen to me. I made a mistake of buying this one. I blame it on my bad memory. I think I reviewed the first book when it first came out. The majority of both books is internal monologues. I won’t lie there is interesting parts in these books, but when something interesting happens or is happening it’s followed, or filled with a bunch of drivel, that doesn’t even matter to pushing the story forward.

Bla bla bla… go back and listen to the first one you might end up thanking me.

Short Version:

Not super memorable but my thanks to the author for giving me something to fill the silence while I do other tasks. If you liked the first book, you'll probably like this as well.* I will not be continuing this series.

Complaints (spoiler free):

1. Perspectives Swaps: In the first book, I thought the changes in time between our protagonist and his friend were a jarring and strange way of showing us the dynamic and mindset of the heroes but could understand the intent. This book is better at not cutting to the far future but...

2. The Thief: The perspective it does cut to in this one is boring. I didn't like the character, not on some moral level or anything just found them dull. I didn't skip their parts out of fear of missing some plot point or twist but, with the exception of when their paths cross, I feel doing so would have improved my listening experience.

3. Snarky 'Systems': This trope has been done well very few times and poisons the genre.

Not bad.
